Hi,

Last night I had the pleasure of tasting several pints ( :drunk: ) of Wincle Brewerys 'Wibbly Wallaby'. A really nice ale.

I was hoping to try and produce something similar myself at some point. Does anybody have any ideas on a recipe or for that matter has anybody here ever tried it?

I've only done 1 AG brew so I'm not really at the stage where I could guess the recipe. It was a golden ale with hoppy overtones.

Thanks.

That throws up an interesting point (for me!) - browsing through the recipes I note a few ways it might be improved..

The first is that you can't order the listings - it might be good to be able to order by name, or by beer type, or maybe expected colour - you get the idea - I don't imagine it would be too difficult to do that? :wha:

The second thing is, while I fully acknowledge any copyright issues, would it be terrible to be able to describe the resulting beer as beinb similar to a specific commercial beer? I think that must be ok since many websites that sell the beer kits will describe the produced beer as being 'the closest we've seen to Old Speckled Hen' - or whatever! :thumb:

That would let people find recipes quicker that suited their aspirations.

If we could also index the hops/malts in some way to make it failrly quick to find a recipe you already have most/all the ingredients for? - not SO sure how that would work though :hmm:

It's been over 20 years since I've drunk a commercial brew that I'd want to copy!
I find HB AG far superior in every way, do your own thing and get your own taste.

They may brew in commercial quantities but they are a two man band working from an old dairy farm.

Still a beautiful beer and one I'd like to emulate. :drink:

I absolutely get where you are coming from (not that I've managed to produce brews that god - but it's early days!) - but that wasn't really the point :hmm:

The reason I suggest that, is the commercial brews are kind of a known constant - and it's easier for people new(ish) to the homebrew game to use those constants to make contrasts and comparisons against :thumb:

I take your point equally.
I just feel that modern commercial brews have lost so much compared with their brews of 20 years ago.
I may well be looking back through rose coloured glasses!
