It'll be fine to pitch into the 1.5L. If you added 20g to 2L water it'll be 1.038 iirc. Doing some calcs the 0.5 boil off will make it 1.051. If you want, you could top up but me being super cautious I'd boil then cool the 500ml for 15 mins
 
Just going through my brew process and realised when making a starter for my yeast I used 200g of dme instead of 20g is this going to have a major effect on my brew? It's fermenting away ok at the moment.
 
Thanks thought I had it right but took a look at Graham wheelers book to read about reusing the yeast and it said for a yeast starter use 55g of dme. Perhaps I am too tired and can't read thiugh
