Been everywhere today looking for the above, aldi lidl asda sainsburys and co op all i could get was pressed red grape juice. We want to make wow later today and i managed to buy from lidl white grape juice not from concentrate. Question is will that be suitable to make wow?

Aldi should have white, but they tend to have red and white in the same outer carton and the white always sells out first. You would think that by now they should have learned to put 8 white & 4 red in a box, rather than 6 of each.

There was talk about Asda discontinuing grape juices, then they were back but re-packaged, so I don't really know what the score is there now.

I've never found white in Sainsbury's, only red.

We don't have a conveniently local Co-op, but if you are using any of the ‘juice drinks’ such as Cranberry, read the cartons because I'm sure I've found preservatives listed on some of theirs.

Cant believe it, ive been to 24 hr Tescos, Morrisons, Aldis and Lidls, all the supermarkets in my town.
None sell White grape juice, and not one, is planning on having it back on shelf.
Asda sell it, but no asda in my town. :x

I can't believe it either, our Tesco have their own brand (more expensive) and a 'Sun Grown' budget brand at 85p a litre.

Aldi had stock problems earlier in the year but they've got plenty now, although their price has gone up to 95p a litre.

Morrison's have a WGJ but it's probably only second in price to Welch's, which you should find in the chiller cabinet and not with the UHT juices.

If you or others are experiencing difficulties, I must top up my reserves, I probably have less than 10 litres at the moment.

I got 6 L in Asda's last Wednesday but have had the same experience as many of the rest of you. Its like "hens teeth" out there, I can't figure out why it should be in short supply, I don't think there is any problems with the crops on the continent??

I must be lucky, I get mine on my monthly on-line Tesco shop, i have never got a replacement because they have run out.

managed to get the white grape juice as in your how to make wow. Its just a different brand ours is RIO DORO instead of the vita fit brand from lidl.

in our aldi, at one side we have rio doro just out on the shelves and vita fit in the fridges, or vice versa I can't really remember

Harvests across Europe last year were diabolical and these juices are pressed from any sub-standard or surplus crop. There was no surplus, so you might have to shop around. Our Summer was lousy, so was theirs.

There's still plenty out there though.

I work in Asda we have it in on UHT juices but not chilled, supply is low this year so when you see it get it!

I had the same issue with getting WGJ for my elderflower champagne. The only one I could find was with peach!
And that would be a Juice Drink - not the same thing at all. Read the ingredients labeling and you will find it's mostly water with a little grape juice, and then you're going to dilute it even further.

If you really can't find WGJ then you could use White Grape Concentrate from a homebrew shop or online supplier, or you could rinse and mince a bag of sultanas, but then you're heading into the realms of country wines and will need straining bags etc.

ASDA seem to be the only round here (Devon) that stock it regularly, but its now £1 a ltr. It was 85p or 3 for £2.50 last month. Just goes to show that supply and demand are alive and well and shafting the consumer at every opportunity. I'd go with Moley and use the concentrate if you cant find WGJ. It'll knock the price of the wine up, but hey, an extra £1.50 fro 6 or so bottles of your own finest?

just finished trying to find it, tried,
Tesco,
Morrisons,
Marks,
Aldi,
Lidl.
Ive gave up, im just going to take Moleys advice and make RGJ and Orange.
In 1 litre cartons, the Princes Orange states Carbohydrates of which sugar 200 mls serving 18.4g
per 100ml 9.2g.
Vitafit RGJ Cabohydrates of which sugar 16.1g.
For 1 gallon will I use 800g of sugar?

161g in the grape juice, 92g in the orange, if you add 800g that's 1053g in total.

In a gallon that will give an OG of 1.084 and it should end up around 12.5% alcohol.

I just bought a vintner's reserve Chardonnay Kit

A lot less hasle and with my experience of WOW tastes a lot nicer than the ones I have brewed.

Maybe so but its £49.96 a kit. :hmm:

Yes but I only brew 2 chardonnay and 2 cab sauv kits a year so £200 for 120 bottles thats £1.67 a bottle for a wine which I would have to pay £4-5 a bottle in the supermarket. You can't make a decent red from fruit juice and the Wows I have made have always ended up sweet and orangey so I don't bother anymore. :D

You could always try not using anything that tastes of orange, give a pomegranate and wgj a try.
