Just measured the current consumption of one of my PIDs
With the SSR energised it draws 4mA at 240v.
The alarm relays are disabled so their consumption is being ignored.
From this, would a 5mA fuse be reasonable, which will blow at 10mA?

I use the REX100 bargin for a tenner.

My SSR heatsink is mounted in a large plastic case, the heatsink is not even warm after a 1hr boil, no ventilation or fans for me!! Do other peoples heatsink bake?

I've bought some of these - they are IP65 and round so easier to drill the hole in the steel door of my box than a rectangulat rocker. Haven't received them yes so can't tell you if thyy are any good yet.

Unless your control box is to be sited where there is risk of liquid exposure it doesn't have to be IP65, and visa versa

Sorry Jim missed your question. I'm pretty sure mine should be 12.5ma but they're 12.5A :wha:
Maybe the M's rubbed of, I'll have to look in the 'box of tricks' at some point and check.
Sounds like a brew day is round the corner!
I wish it was. For the moment the V1 Brewery is retired (abstaining since new eve day), personal choice  doesn't mean to say I can't 'tinker' though :P
Really missing the Winter Ales Fest

solving the same problem.. those will be good, I think..

what sort of switches did you use for 12V DC? I found plenty, but none of them had some good IP rating.. want it to be safe at first :!:

Thanks JP :thumb:
I do wonder if the manufacturer fitted an internal fuse, but not sure if you can gain access to the innards.

The switch description has changed on flea-bay and implies the lighting is 12v only although switches have a high current and AC voltage rating - just received them today but had no time to look at them properly yet. I think the seller has got the description mixed up with a lower rated LED lit switch but not sure yet. If they do end up being DC lit then I'll use them to control the solar pumps.

Currently covered in paint - been painting the new brewery walls - 12 litres on today - another 8 tomorrow. Painting concrete blockwork is a pig.

PID purchase it a mine field, I know got it wrong once myself. :)
