Recycle. just go to your local and ask them to save you there empty's. Or if you like punk ipa. Sainsburys do 660ml bottles for £2.50 each, I've got quite a few if these, the beer inside is just a bonus.

Love the idea that the beer is the optional/disposable bit and the bottle the most essential!

+1 on the bench capper, never used the other type but i can tell i did the right thing going straight for the bench capper!!

For a start, have you got a capper. As this will help make your decision for you. If you havent you may as well get a bench capper straight off the bat as eventually you'll end up buying one anyway if you use glass bottles for any length of time
Personally I'm quite keen on swing tops but not as much as I am on Easy Kegs (just thought I'd throw you that curve ball )

Have ordered 8 Easy Kegs [emoji736]

Mini kegs is the way to go.
Better if you buy them with beer in them but good anyway. I prefer them with the party star tap, as they seem to go flat after about a day otherwise. Still a bargain though, saving loads of time bottling even with buying co2

Asda...4 ales for a fiver round here...I just kept my bottles...must have over 200...oops! +1 for the bench capper..makes an easy job of it plus you will be able to use wychwood bottles.

Cheers

Clint

Nothing wrong with buying empty, especially at £4.99 what was postage on that?

Postage was £4.99 because it was under a certain weight , I could of had maybe a few more for same postage price, cheapest place I have found, took hours scrolling down the pages on internet, sometimes your better off persevering

I was using the Tap-A-Draft system but a piece came out of the side so the CO2 bulb leaks out when you use one , could I use silicon or something?

Not sure of the construction so can't give definitive answer - sorry!

Silicone sealant "hardens" to a rubbery consistency so it may not be the right way to go.

IF this is the case, my favourite shop (Lidl of course) had some fast setting epoxy AND putty by UHU last week and I have used one or the other to repair loads of stuff.

I suggest that you get down there, see if they have any left and then take another look at the problem to decide on a cure.

Hope this helps! :thumb:

I have some Coopers PET bottles. The reason I like them is the plastic bottles dont break, they are light and they still hold beer the same as glass bottles do. When I drink the beer in them I give them a really good rinse and keep them in a garden trub. When its time to clean them I just tip the trub full into the bath, fill with water and steraliser, wash and rinse. I'd have a bath full of broken glass the way I throw my bottles about.

Here's another curve ball for you, I bought in 75 cl glass bottles ... it means there are fewer of them to clean and fill up compared to the 330 ml ones. In the end, it saves a lot of hassle, they are all the same size for the bench capper, all in the same condition and all designed to do the job. Apart from the weight, glass is pretty easy to clean ... not used PET since the early days when I was recycling cola bottles.

The problem I find with bigger bottles is your can't really drink more than a pint unless you want a mucky pint full of yeast.
