Im not sure if it's a ational company or just regional but BOYES stores sell quite a few yeasts.
Nottingham and a few others.

Don't now if you have one near you?

Boyes is a north east company based in Scarborough. I think the furthest south is around Doncaster or Lincoln. But, as you say, they have a few yeasts. The one in Ilkley has Danstar Nottingham and Windsor, Gervin Ale and several wine yeasts. No lager yeast though.

Another +1 for the Malt Miller..

the yeast will depend on the style of beer you like / make. I am using WLP023 at the moment and enjoy it a lot. So far been in stouts and bitters but have a hoppy pale ale conditioning with it so interesting to see how it deals with that. It does ferment BIG though, so have head space in your FV - on the upside of that its also very easy to top crop :thumb:

the liquid yeast from Rob are very good.... and if you plan it right..... another brew can go in on the yeast cake....2 for 1

They have one in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire

I just use the how to reclaim yeast from bottled beers in the how to.

I use a plastic water bottle style demijohn (amazon two for 10 quid including airlock).

This way you can access brewery standard yeast from a supermarket (and you get to drink nice bottled ales to boot).

All you need is...

A demijohn
Some DME (200g)
A bottle conditioned beer containing primary strain (Shepherd Neame 1698, Wye Valley Butty Bach available at asda or Fullers 1845, Thwates Tavern Porter available at Morrisons all have worked for me)

I usually get the yeast sorted about 5 days prior to the brew and chuck the contents of the demijohn straight into cooled wort (unless a miracle happens and brew is not short).

Fermenting within a few hours.

I live in Hemel and I wouldn't recommend Derek's pharmacy for a wide selection of yeast, they have a decent selection of dry yeast but none of the liquid ones IIRC. I get mine posted from The Malt Miller in Didcot or the Home Brew Shop in Aldershot. Both provide good service and very quick postage. (My personal preference is The Malt Miller as I don't get on too well with the Wyeast smackpacks, the inner bag never seems to break when I think it has and I end up having to cut it with scissors, hrumphhh..)
