They're still around. On facebook? - Check out 'Maidstone Brewers' and in Canterbury 'East Kent Amateur Brewers'

Thanks marlon - I don't use facebook (I know I must be the only person in the world) but can see they are still going. Shame facebookers don't ever seem to consider the rest of us and have any alternative means of getting in touch.
My kids school sports days was cancelled last week and they only put the message out on facebook.

As things stand I've already got three King Kegs and don't have the funds to upgrade at the moment. These do work fine for me, last kit I made only had to use a single CO2 bulb to get the last 4-5 pints out, the pressure from secondary fermentation was very good.

I completely agree with this sentiment ... :thumb: :thumb:

... but I'm not sure that I would change out the KK even if I had the money and permission from SWMBO.

Here's a photograph of my Top-tap King Keg which is currently dispensing Wilco Hoppy Copper Bitter.

If you look in the background you will see that the level in the keg is well down, but it is still delivering beer from secondary fermentation with sufficient pressure for a decent head.

I will wait until the KK gets to almost zero pressure before using a CO2 capsule to get the rest of the beer out.

Keg dispensing systems with beer temp control offer the ability to serve over the full range of condition levels you can desire, and when balanced and stable allow a simple flip of the switch for easy consistent pour after pour.. At a significant cost.. If in it for the long haul its a very worthwhile investment imho. tho i personally never managed to acquire the knack that some have mastered of pouring a clean pint out of a pb consistently, brewing the stuff no problem pouring out of a boots pb or a beersphere however.

A pb would be worth the investment to test out f it suits you, if like me you find the pouring tricky some have fitted dalex style taps as an upgrade that open and close the flow cleanly which could help.

If I was starting over again and I could get hold of a pub gas cylinder then I'd go with Cornelius kegs. Specifically this offer: http://www.thehomebrewcompany.co.uk/a-used-corny-kegs-pack-of-3-19lt-ball-lock-p-2796.html

Any other options seem like quite a lot of hassle.

Do quite like the concept of the mini kegs though, could be ideal for taking some beer for camping, round to a mates, etc. so may get a few of these one day.

are they difficult to use though + are the other bits that are needed hard to get hold of ?
