Why don't you try mudlarking on the Thames foreshore M? Loads to find and no outlay for any kit as you can just do "eyes only" searching for surface finds.

I tried that a few years ago. I even bought a little trowel :laugh8: . But the Thames foreshore mud absolutely stinks. Also now you have to get a permit from the London port authority to mudlark. They cost about £32

We took a trip to Lake Mungo, it was an ancient aboriginal settlement, the site of the most ancient footprints, and the first known cremation of a human being 40,000 years old.
The lake dried up 18,000 years ago, didn't stop my wife bringing the towels with us to go for a swim, should've explained more about it.:laugh8:
There are artifacts to be found but, not metal the aborigines were stone age, also there are bones of giant wombats and other extinct animals, lunettes formed making the landscape quite spectacular. There is an old sheep station there which closed in 1968, walk into the shearing sheds and with the smell of the lanolin you would think the sheep were in there the day before.
When I watch Time Team I think it would be good to go out fossicking for buried coins or other metal objects, something we are unlikely to find here.

I've watched magnet fishing stuff on YT. Your right, crazy finds. There seems to be an inordinate amount of (broken) safes in canals
Last year whilst up at the allotment, next to the river, a couple of kids pulled a hand grenade out of the river. Tried for a quick exit to get the car off site. Police galore waiting for the bomb squad....

Glad I got away, police sent other plot holders on a long walk to avoid the area. Kids who found it thought it was great. Dad came down - less so.
Meant to add my recommendations, gardening Charles Dowding, or Cliff and Dianne at castle hill gardens Castle Hill Garden
But for bread videos like the now closed The Bread Kitchen. Short vids done and dusted and ever so slightly mad The Bread Kitchen

I like the videos I get appear on my Facebook feed about fixing ****.

like sometimes there’s ones like ‘turning a rusty file into a razor sharp knife’ or ‘cleaning up a rusty machete’ or ‘how to turn a crap looking hammer into a work of art’. Then I get these ones like ‘turning a couple lumps of wood and some blue goo into an amazing table’

I find them quite fascinating to watch for some reason.

Watched Rumpole of the Bailey box set again. Struck me how an actors and a barristers profession could interchange.
Leo McKern was the first choice to play Alf Garnet, Peter Sellars second and Warren Mitchell third. Not many people know that.

I watched one of those. Really cool

I tried to make one in an old spare demijohn with some canal water but it didn't really work. Think a little natural pond where you can get to the bottom and access some floating plants is your best bet, if you try do it.

I did catch some small crustaceans but they died off after a few days. I saw a worm in there but have had nothing for the past few weeks so might empty it out and try again when I can access something more pond-like.

I watch John Campbell because he's crunching the numbers in a way I like. None of the government adverts explain why we should be doing the things we're supposed to do, they're rubbish. If you explain why you should stay in rather than telling people to stay in they might have stayed in. The New Zealand prime minister is amazing in comparison.

@Bevvied I used to watch videos all the time, especially Randy Santel and after a few years thought nope after saying "Another burger challenge.... yihhh" and got so bored of it. I got bored of Molly Schuyler fairly quickly because she's too good. Raina I liked when she was doing stuff with Randy or other people because she's a fekkin Tasmanian Devil. Beard Meets Food I really don't like. He's a cheat and he's got no charm.

I've been watching this bloke on youtube: ScammerRevolts . He rings up the scammers (mainly from India) and hacks their computers and deletes all their files. They're a bit samey, but strangely satisfying.

I also spent yesterday afternoon watching some bloke testing nano tape and duct tape etc. That was mildly interesting.
