My first kit was an extract bitter kit, but I can't remember the brand. It was in 1970 when aged 14. All I can remember of it was that it was **** and didn't taste much like bitter. But I do remember that the smell while it was boiling was wonderful. But at 14 I was more concerned that I needed to get rid of the smell before I was caught! So I gave up homebrew until the early 80's when I again got the bug and did an extract clone of Theakstons best bitter. This time it was a success. :thumb: And the rest is history as they say.

Im glad m parents found my stash of 100 bottles of cider made that i was making and selling lol at school coz they said if youre going to do it do it proper and got me a burco boiler now im ag and im getting a 300 gallon barrel for cider oh yeah =)

Mine was a friends amber ale. The taste was amazing and the thought of having a great product that rivals anything in a supermarket or pub facinated me.

Get on bay well hope you make more beer but make a bar so you can serve it to your mates

Abbot Ale

:thumb: Same here

Was it in the 1970s when Green King was still a smallish brewery. It was the best beer I've
ever drank bar none, and I have tried a few.

Wasn't born till '78 so my experience was quite a bit later :(
But The cats at Woodham Walter always did a great pint of Abbot!

It depends on the country I was in at the time. My first "real" beer was duvel, palm, bittburger, and leffe. That was when I was in holland. When I got back to the states the craft beer boom had exploded, especially in CA, and I fell in love with stone's IPA, arrogant *******, and Sierra Nevada.
