I’ve just finished a bottle of Muntons Midas Touch. First taste. It is good, but needs extra time. I’m going to let it continue to condition in the garage until May.

Last bottle of festival Belgian pale. Forgot These were fractionally over carbonated Thankfully the shed is cold enough that the slight surge didn't disturb the yeast. These were good late last summer after an initial buttery popcorn had conditioned out. Still good 😊
Happy Friday folks.

If any of you enjoy a Wheat Beer I can highly recommend the Bruphoria Wit or Wit out you Kit from the Homebrew Company. Best Wheat Beer Kit I have done out of Cooper’s, Mangrove Jacks Bavarian Wheat beer and Festival Wheat beer kit. I currently have both the Festival and Bruphoria Kits and the Bruphoria Wit beer is absolutely fantastic. I give it 10/10. Really Good.

Last bottle of a Woodfordes NOG brewed Nov 2020. Tasty, but a little under-carbonated and not as good as my memory said it would be. Maybe faded a bit past its best or maybe I'm recalling how it was from mini keg.

I’m enjoying a Midas Touch whilst freezing my nuts off in the back garden relaxing and minding the BBQ. Just about to open up a Hazy IPA.

nice one ; have heard good things about that kit before ,so so how long before it became really good 👍🍻

it was kegged and cold conditioned for around 6 weeks before drinking and was excellent then. It is just a lot cleaner tasting now I think. The notes I made at drinking rated it 9/10 and now it’s 10/10 after around 10 months if that helps…

Got two kit beers in keg - both MYO AIPA from the Range. First is a kit made as normal with 75g Citra in addition to be the included dry hops. The second is two kits made up to 30l with 100g Citra and 50g Mosaic.

I’ve had a Cooper’s Canadian Blonde which I dry hopped with Citra and Mosaic hops, turned out great. Then had a Midas Touch, and now I’m going to pour myself a Muntons Hazy IPA.

This is a Wilko Light Golden Lager with a litre of Tesco Grapefruit Juice and 0.5kg of Muntons Beer Enhancer added before fermentation and a Hop Tea made from Cascade after transfer to a 25 litre PB.

The brew was started on 11th December and gets better every day! It's the closest brew yet to the Batemans Gold that I was trying to emulate. i.e. it's delicious!

And here’s the recipe.

WILKO LIGHT GOLDEN LAGER WITH GRAPEFRUIT
11th December 2019

Started with Wilko IPA Kit and 0.5kg of Muntons Beer Enhancer.
Added 1 litre of Tesco Grapefruit Juice to fermenter. (**)
Made as per instructions to 21 litres.
Cooled to 20*C, took OG and pitched kit yeast .
Fermenting at 19*C in Brew Fridge.
20th December 2019
Checked SG at 1.010
Started cold-crash to 10*C.
28th December 2019
Transferred to Wilko Keg
Added 15g of carbonating sugar.
Added 2 litres of Hop Tea made from 25g of Cascade Leaf.
Carbonated in fridge at 19*C.
30th December 2019
Moved from fridge to condition after checking carbonation underway.
DETAILS
OG = 1.038
FG = 1.010
ABV = 3.68% (*)
(*)
ABV less due to addition of Hop Tea.
First taste of FG Sample is that the Grapefruit flavour is still there! YAY!

(**)
It was the Tesco Pink Grapefruit Juice. The reason I mention this is that the flavour from the "ordinary" grapefruit juice seems a lot stronger!

Enjoy!

… and then I broke my leg!

However, I have an MYO Premium Lager ready for the next brew so I will probably try for a “Batemans Gold” clone again!
athumb..

In the meantime I will carry on with the overcarbonated & out of date IPA!
