Woodfordes Wherry Ale yeast 6g packet that came with the kit I bought a while ago so should be interesting.

What were your grain mill settings to improve efficiency like this, and any problems sparging?
Hi Anna going through the figures and from Brix to gravity I think Brix gives it to 1.000 though maybe wrong but on checking gravity converted I've went from a predicted 4.5% to a 6.0%.
I adjusted the mill as my last brew was under target by around 20 points going by my alternative hydrometer so I slackened of to credit card width and a fraction more where the card was slack but just turning.I also wet conditioned 2.5kg but it kept jamming my drill as it has to run in reverse to turn the mill so added the rest dry though the crush is still fine and using the base screen only in the Robobrew the sparge was slow so contemplating playing with the mill settings again but hey I'll get 17l to a keg of quaffing ale and a few litres of behave yourself.
 
Just bottling again for me today. I bottled the pilsner with tettnang and thought on brew day it smelled a bit cabbagey...its changed...nice subtle mixture of floral spice...really looking forward to this! I got half a glass of dregs in the fridge to sample later.
I have also drawn up a brew sheet for Friday...V2 Summer Breeze. I have enough citra for the brew day but needed more for the dry hop, my next 3c pale and a citra SAISON!
So,as you do,I've just done a small,top up order to CML...450g citra (oops) plus some other bits...
 
I wish I had smellivision for when I checked on the Citra SMaSH last night I sniffed at the airlock and the wonderful arome of lime,grapefruit and tropical notes was unreal.I decided to ask my son's opinion and his answer was I can only smell your beer.Enter daughter no 2 who has only recently turned 18 and started drinking to repeat to me my own thoughts with that's really nice mmmm.
 
Gerry you must have the only 18 year old in the world who has started drinking :laugh8: :beer1:
My eldest is 20 and waited so has my daughter and my eldest so is 17 and hasn't started though have give him zero/zero beers which he has enjoyed so I can be thankful in that respect and hopefully my youngest son at 13 will do the same.They take that after their mother and certainly not me....
 
My 2 came home sloshed a time or 2 but nothing serious, funnily enough both drink very little now eldest lad is 31 and daughter 23, i take after my grandad on my mums side he loved his ale but not to the point were it was a problem athumb..
I love my ale too but after the first toilet run every 20 mins so 4 or 5 bottles or pints at most and don't drink if I'm working the next day or night.

All done,approx 2 points over target OG but not worked out the efficiency yet as still dropping the wort to the fv.
A couple of things to note...given the amount of oats,500g,I was worried about a stuck sparge. This didn't happen until I compressed the grain bed at the end to get the last litre or so out. I then realised I hadn't collected enough wort..now this could be two things. Either the oats have absorbed lots of extra water during the mash or I mismeasured my spare water. While I was filling the kettle for the sparge I was interrupted by two deliveries and as I was about 4 litres short,which is a jug full..I think this is the cause. Another point
is that the 200g hop stand blocked the filter in the kettle a couple of times and I had to scrape it with a sanitised paddle.
 
Had a good brew day but i am now trying to figure out why i am 2L short and 2 points under, only thing thats different is it's the first time i have done a pilsner smash, it tasted ok out of the trial jar maybe i need to add a bit more grain for my biab setup

That makes three brews in the last couple of weeks - I'm no @Hazelwood Brewery :laugh8: - and this'll be the first time I've had all three Corny's full at the same time

On the day it always feels like a bit of a marathon, especially the cleaning and tidying up; but it's a great feeling afterwards.

Doing three brews close together has really helped improve my process - reckon I knocked two hours off the end-to-end today, and no major cockups 😇
