Dominion by Tom Holland is a wonderful work of history. Covers influence of Christianity from the Roman Empire right up to now. Impressive work of scholarship.

That's a good one, I read Rubicon a few months ago, hard going in places but decent enough.

That's a good one, I read Rubicon a few months ago, hard going in places but decent enough.

Persian Fire is also great.
He also has one on the Julian/Claudian Dynasty, called 'Dynasty'
