Tonight's tipple is a Citra/Enigma DIPA from cloudwater very very nice. Nibbles are my first attempt at home made biltong mmmm! Meaty.

Hobgoblin Gold.

Nice drink - but reminds me what a great job we do on our home brew jobs as this is no better than some of my creations .

First time I had it I thought it was outstanding, but the last couple of times it’s just tasted like any old Marstons-brewed golden ale. Either all the hops from my Homebrew have ruined my tastebuds or they’ve changed the recipe.

I’ve found myself disappointed with British bottled beer recently, so I bought some Franziskaner tonight. I’ve been drinking it for years, and it only actually occurred to me tonight that is name is derived from Fansiscan monks.

I know what you’re saying.
To be honest I don’t buy that often, but the son in law brought these over.
Just supping a Trooper now, lack lustre.

That said - I envy the clarity [emoji57]

I’m running low on stocks (3 bottles of APA and 2 MKs of stout left) so have been buying a bottle or 2 a week to break things up a bit because I can’t seink stout all night. I find most of the American style beers and German/Belgians to be fine, but just about every single British ale I buy seems to taste the same. Even Bitter & Twisted - I had a lovely (as usual) cask pint of it 3 weeks ago but the bottled version was so nondescript, over-bittered and lacking flavour.

If I could only take one beer with me to a desert island, it would be Sierra Nevada.

For me it would probably be Beavertown 8-ball rye. I do need to expand my horizons somewhat on the beer front though, as I've not experienced too many different styles.

My first thoughts were:

"Glossop in Derbyshire? Noted for long hot summers to dry out biltong?" :thumb:

The only Biltong I have ever eaten was in South Africa where they have my imagined need for "long hot summers", so I decided to look Biltong Recipes and got this one:

https://tastyrecipes.sapeople.com/how-to-make-biltong/

Instruction 7. says "Hang up to dry in a well ventilated spot." and that I can find, even in Skegness, so it looks as if I will be adding Biltong to my list of meat dishes this summer.

Many thanks for the head-up! :thumb:

Yellow Belly
Birthday treat today
Holy ****, top 3 beers of all time.
Need a clone

Really, guess Ill have to wait till March 12th next years Birthday.
Ill hunt it out

Chinook IPA. Just a week in the bottle, lightly carbonated (because of the ceiling incident). A fresh smack in the face, screaming its way down the throat. One per evening, more would be challenging.
Hmm, nice.

What else would a 75 years old man drink on his birthday but these ...

IMG_0627.jpg

... a Premium Bitter with a Rusty Nail chaser! (The Bitter's a bit cloudy but it's still very young!)

I share my birthdate with Albert Einstein and Michael Caine ...:thumb:

... unfortunately, I'm not as intelligent as Albert Einstein, I'm nowhere near as rich as Michael Caine ...

... but I'm glad to still be here to moan about it. :thumb:

Later today I will hopefully enjoy my lunch with three old schoolmates as we all celebrate 75 years on this planet. It's a sobering thought that when we celebrated our 70th birthdays there were five of us.

Eric is sorely missed!

Happy Birthday Dutto. Most importantly your birthday is Pi Day!

Ironic eh?

Stephen Hawking dies on my birthday, which was Einsteins Birthdate and Pi Day! It makes my birthday a really insignificant event eh?

In a lecture one day a Student asked me "What is Pi?" so I responded with the standard "3.142 or 22 over 7 if you are using fractions." to which he replied "I know that, but what exactly is Pi?"

It took me a whole weekend to work out what Pi actually is 'cos no-one had ever told me, I had never asked and there was no internet available in those days. Enjoy working it out if you don't already know!

Best regards. :thumb:
