That might hurt come the am!!

When I saw the score I actually thought England had won a "Six Nations Basketball Competition"!

I guess that's what two pints of 7.8% ABV Bitter will do to a happy brain! :thumb:

I took SWMBO and her sister to visit Lincoln Cathedral today and they rewarded me with this bottle of Tom Woods. :thumb:

It tasted fine until I saw the price-tag.

But I live in hope that the Grainfather has moved a bit closer if SWMBO has realised how much beer can cost.

I used to live in Lincoln and met my wife there but I'm not familiar with Tom woods brewery. We are going back later this year for a long weekend, how expensive was this beer?9

My very last one of these, bottled 11/04/16. I'm sorry to see them go, they really do make me think that the very strong Imperial Stouts need a year in the bottle to come into their own.

I bottled this on Monday and may have just been a tad off with my extra fermentables, on that note I'm going to call it Simply Imperial Stout.
For my chocolate flavour I used coco stick which is the first process of the coco bean, my Mother in law brings it over from St Lucia for me. I also used Fortnum & Masons Sandringham blend ground coffee, here goes:

23L - 30/03/16 - 11/04/16 - 18-20c -controlled
Wilko Gervin yeast - Re-pitched + 1tsp Yeast Nutrient
1kg Youngs Brew Enhancer + 454g Lyles Treacle
40g Coco stick, grated and boiled for 20m
20g F&M ground coffee steeped in the hot water with the coco when it came off the gas for 15 mins
30g Aurora hops 20m boil, tea and bag added to the FV
OG:1074 - FG:1007 - 9%
Bottled into 600ml bottles with 1tsp of sugar to prime

Tasted really nice in the trial jar but I was in no way expecting 9%, I'll try a bottle in a fornight as I always do but I think this one's going to need a good few months to condition which is no problems it's going to be such a winter drink I won't want to look at it until the summer's over. If it does work out I may try and stash ten bottles or so for Christmas but being this strong it's really going to be a night night Stout.

It was £3.20 and the bottle is identical to the ones I use. :thumb:

Here's the brewery web site ...

... they do some nice beers and there's a list of stockists on their web site.

Enjoy!

Oops mine was £4.50 and only 330ml:oops: Worth every penny though, best IIPA I've ever tasted:thumb:

A supplier at work just bought me this for pushing a big contract his way! Top man!

Nice to know there are still some genuinely decent folk around :thumb:

Guess what I'm on tonight while watching the footy!

I used to work as a buyer and its illegal to take a gift for giving someone business. Can be seen as a bribe and very difficult to prove there was no prior arrangement. I was offered all sorts of freebies including holidays, booze and other things but you just have to turn it down.

What really tees me off is that I was NEVER ONCE offered a bribe, despite being in various positions of "power".

The nearest I got was, when attempting to execute a Warrant for non-payment of a fine, the man wasn't at home and his wife offered me "favours in lieu" if I would just pay the required money.

I arrested him the next day instead! :thumb:

Tom Wood...did they do a beer called Bomber or something similar? I've been to Lincoln twice on holiday and remember drinking it at a very posh golf/country club type place we were given passes to ,to use the swimming pool while staying at some cabins in the nearby woods. I had one of the pint glasses with the tree logo on it...

Cheers

Sorry but I don't know.

I almost never buy bottled beer in the UK and the last present that SWMBO bought me (a packet of Preparation H Suppositories for Christmas) was about 10 years ago. :thumb:

Wow, I didn't know this. Too late now, I supped them!

I went to Weatherspoons last night and had a can of Sixpoint Bengali Tiger IPA.
I never thought such nectar could come out of a can, really is a taste experience I have never had before.
My aim is to one day re-create something similar, I think I may well be a few dozen brew days away from that.

May have to try it next time Ive in a Wetherspoons. Just had a look at the Adnams website who make it and it uses a lot of hops at different stages. When I put it into goggle it came up with a lot of clone recipes as well.
