We hosted all the family last year so have decamped 90 miles west to Machynlleth and just come from the Wynnstay where first I had Dai Bitter then WPA both good but from 18th C cellars a bit cold!

I'm having sneaky sample of my first attempt at cider which is surprising bloody good! I named it after the blackbird that watched the apple scratting, waiting to clean up! Only 4 gallons to get through and I've not had a cider in 30 years! At least it is decent to give away! Blackbird's Wing batch used wine yeast whilst the Blackbird's Call was a cider yeast. I'm experimenting with still and sparkling. In the dismal Cumbrian dark, I am now dreaming of warm Cornish holidays of many moons ago! :)
