Any other recommendations, I’m off to Cornwall next month. I expect we will visit Sharps and St.Austell, and Healys cider farm. Tintagel sounds like it should be on the list.

Oh i do! I'll get some suggestions over in a bit, but I would second Dynamite, I think they do a lovely Stout. Black Flag in Perranporth, Falmouth has a good few pubs, my personal favourite being 'The Front', it's not much to look at but it's nice on a nice day sitting outside and the beer is varied (usually) and good. Righto i'm off to bed, knackered.

After a spell of warm weather winter has returned with a vengeance, 12 C pouring with rain, tomato seedling and pumpkin seedlings up. Bet they wish they hadn't bothered now.
Something to warm me up my Foreign Extra Stout.

Here is a link to the recipe sheet. The recipe is fine as a nice golden ale but if you’re looking for a clone of Proper Job you need more bittering so maybe give the first addition 60 minutes rather than 40?

20g Cascade @15m
25g Willamette & 20g Cascade @ whirlpool 85C for 20m
Nottingham style yeast.
22 litres

Actually, looking at your grain bill just reminded me of one other major difference between my golden ale and PJ - my golden ale is 4.1% where PJ is 5.5%. In my view you don’t miss the strength and you can drink more!

Had a pint on draught last night in Brixham Rugby club it was 4.5% ABV. The bottled stuff is 5.5%.

I’m by myself tonight and as I can’t be bothered to cook decided on a beer and a pizza considered delivery but for reasons that escape me it is cheaper to buy a pint and a pizza at my local pub (they have a proper wood fired oven and do fairly deacent pizza) than to get one delivered. So am enjoying a pint of Loose Cannon Sparge of the Light Brigade a 3.7% Golden Ale very light slight sweetness I generally prefer a tad more bitterness but overall very easy to drink and certainly won’t be sending it back.
