Just glad it’s Friday I’m checking the carbonation on my attempt at Summer Breeze, it’s a bit darker than I was expecting and compared to the last batch but still tastes decent though so not exactly complaining, however I have being looking at @Hazelwood Brewery version two of this which if I remember correctly uses some Pilsner malt as well so might try this.

Saaz and Maris Otter with US-05 bottled about a week ago. Not really sure what youd call it but it's drinkable, was going for a pseudo lager

Version 2 is better in my view. It tastes a little better and looks a lot better.

First pour of my White IPA hopped with Talus & Mandarina fermented with WLP 400 Belgian Wit. Yeast character is very subtle and the hops give lots of citrus flavours which dominated by the grapefruit flavours from Talus..I like it..good level of bitterness, dry finish with citrus. Think the yeast character might come through a little as the hops mellow.

Aldi special, £1.49 ish. Can says pineapple, mango, low bitterness and soft mouthfeel. I'd agree with that.

NEIPAs are not my big thing, but I'd want more of a fuller mouthfeel. Saying that, it could be taste tested against a similar beer from a local craft brewery that specialises in hipster juice; and I would probably struggle to pick them out.

After finishing this, I wonder how low the bitterness is. Certainly too low for me; really feels unbalanced (for me). The upfront(ish - remember its aldi) hop aroma and flavour is left hanging by a lack of bitterness.

Beer52 case arrived yesterday. First up, and it’s a corker.

I lived and worked near SALT, before it was SALT. i dont think I've had one of there beers, but I need to a trip there when I'm next visiting friends.

Nearby is also Fanny's Ale House, always a good place for a good beer.

Brew York - John Biscotti, The King of Brew York.
Biscotti Imperial Pastry Stout 12%.

Malts: pale, flaked barley, flaked oats, crystal 150, chocolate, special b, carafa 3.
Hops: ctz t90 to bitter.
Other: lactose, tonka beans, nut flavouring (hazlenut, almond, pistachio), orange extract.
And of course yeast.

Woof. Need to sip this. It really does taste like an Italian biscuit or Christmastime, which i know is a very aquired taste. It does have an alcoholic bite that forces you to take it easy.

It's many years since I've had liqueurs and such, but is it ameretto that it reminds me of?

Beer52 have picked up quite a few of their beers recently and they’ve been consistently good. If you haven’t tried Beer52 and want to give it a go, I’m sure plenty of people here could pass on a referral code. There’s probably an extra case in it for you and the referrer, or some sort of similar incentive.

Next up, an American IPA, and another corker. This months selection does look pretty good. I nearly packed it in a year a go, but switched from dark to light beers instead. I’m glad I did, the last half dozen cases have all been excellent.

Edit:- mid pint update. This is a real belter, it’s got biscuity malts and citrus hops in perfect balance with a bit more fruit in the background than most of the other American IPA’s I had recently. Not sure if it’s a yeast contribution or they have some mosaic in the hops. I’m going to have to dig the van out of the recycling and see if they list them.

Bloody nothing - I'm on the night shift. Then tomorrow - I'm on the night shift. I'll be dealing with lots of other people who have all had way too much to drink and they'll be looking to me for sympathy - well that's something you find in the dictionary, between sh*t and syphylis!

BiL subscribed, to a few others as well but since cancelled.
I have a really good beer shop practically on the doorstep so no need to get deliveries.
But, I like the idea of random selections because I'll go in said shop and buy schlenkerla, any sam smiths or st Augustine helles and not really branch out to fancy cans.
