Different climate down here. I am happy it's just Dry. 👍👍
Out door cinema looks some job
Best £50 I’ve spent on eBay to get the Projector and screen. Plug in the Firestick and you’re up and running. Picture quality is passable, sound is awful so we plug in one of the kids Bluetooth speakers.

A deuchars inspired beer from earlier. Bottled it last week. I did a taste off with a bottle of deuchars, mine had loads more fresh malt flavour and hops, the deuchars had a shade more bitterness and a bit of a burnt sugar taste that mine didnt have. If i was to try and get closer to the original I'd use a darker invert and more bitterness. Shame deuchars is a shadow of what it was

Have you a recipe please?

I bottled a Festival Oaked Apple Cider kit this morning and put on a Bruphoria James Blonde Ale this evening. To celebrate I am enjoying a lovely Session Pale Ale. It’s a nice way to collect 500ml bottles.

This evening its been brewdog double punk, northern monk new world ipa and roaster coaster by brewdog/evil twin.....this is because my 3C's APA os still fermenting so i cant drink my own for a week or so yet

Also had a Christian bale ale. As far as session IPA's go, it was one of the better ones. But no matter how good they are, session IPA's are ultimately unbalanced beers. I've yet to try one that made me want to drink or buy a second one.

That's something I don't get. What's the difference between a hoppy pale and a session IPA

Bulldog mead yeast pitched 14 litres at 1.120 SG. Expected FG @ - 1.010 ~ 14.48%. Secondary addittion of 340g squeezy honey to repair flavour.

It stuck at 1.060 and still bubbles. Considered adding out of date cider or wine yeast to get the further 0.050 but accepted the experimental and is still sweet at 7.88% though cloudy. No sediment in the glass. Will restock yeasts a year after lockdown.

I was born in '71 not 1871 or 2071 so my young beard is not long enough or short enough for either 'hipster' nor 'ale oracle' but ... IPA is India Pale Ale - ales brewed in British Isles for a 6-9 month boat passage to India during the integration or exploitation of the south Asian continent. they were brewed extra hoppy and light in malt to extend life expectancy of the ale on a cross equator (therefore seasonal ( remember - no fridge) temperatures) to keep the army quiet. ( Its likely the existence of IPA on merchant or navy ships was hidden from crew or otherwise malts smells may offer its discovery and consumption) Other similar brews where shipped to America. There are encyclopedia of recipes that date from these times that may have been exploited and " reappropriated at great profit " now I make my own who cares about national security or commercial interests?

These IPA's would be heavy alc to overcome the journey - a session IPA is a drink you frequently use ie- more than thrice in 6 hours. The marines and serving army in india or hong kong would probs never get session status.

It’s maybe a little bit early but it’s Friday afternoon and there’s nothing I need to be doing. It’s a bit chilly today though so I’m going to start with an easy drinking stout. Happy Friday y’all! 🥳

I suppose an IPA is more aggressively hopped than a hoppy pale ale. So they just don't work when the abv is lowered. Ever tried the 5% canned version of Sierra Nevada pale ale. It tastes very different to the 5.6% bottle.

this afternoon it's mainly

and punk IPA. the whiskey was on special but isn't really. as you can see it seems to have been getting consumed regardless. hmm.

Had this “in stock” for a couple of years picked it up in York at the House of the trembling madness a great little bar and bottle shop. Leffe Ritual 9% I don’t think they brew it now.
🍻
Yes they still brew it and it's readily available in French supermarkets so you can probably get it from online suppliers. The one they've stopped brewing is Radieuse, which was an absolutely stonking pint. Of course it was a bit harder and required more skill to brew properly so it got dropped. Great shame.
