My Chevallier beer basically 50/50 Chevalier malt and MO with a bit of Torrefied wheat.

Mersey Dockers IPA, still a little young and fresh at only 3 weeks, but super tasty, floral toffee apple with a little spicy kick! Perhaps a little 'green' as the ethyl hexanoate while subtle is a little pronounced, but from experience this mellows with age... still, absolutely quaffable!! Yum!!

Is that a Beerworks kit? I’m pretty sure I brewed one 3 or 4 years ago and it was quite strong.

Yes, that's right, I am a big fan of their stuff, they are all great! not all to my taste, but absolutely no complaints, super easy and they always work as intended so long as you do your due diligence re. sanitisation and follow the instructions. The only one I did feel a little, and I do mean 'a little' disappointed with was the Blonde, it's definitely more of a Brunette 😂

I enjoyed their Presidents Sierra and one with a picture of a very early steam engine I think - like Stevenson’s Rocket.

Yeah that's a cracker!! Golden Rocket, Russian Imperial Stout, Founders Double IPA, Chinook and the Spire are also excellent. The Russian Imperial Stout is absolutely outstanding, one of the best pints of stout I have ever had anywhere, ever. That's also pretty strong at 7.7%, it is a 6Kg kit 🤯

I actually have that Russian Imperial Stout fermenting in a bucket right now! It's been 6 days steady bubbling away!

Time to go back in time to a Goose Pale Ale brewed back in June, this has matured perfectly and I am guessing it's at it's peak right now, perfectly complex and yet at the time time ridiculously smooth. Fruity, perhaps apricot or passion fruit, against a light caramel backdrop, absolutely no off flavours whatsoever! Utterly delicious! The only downside is that there's only one bottle left after this one... ahh well! All good things must come to an end ☺

I am just in the process of moving to whole grain, tomorrow is my first brew day - eek! I feel the bar has been set pretty high, I am trying not to build up my expectations too much.

I’ve had a couple of malty ales so time for something a bit more hoppy, Summer Breeze.

That looks good, the one thing I am missing with the BeerWorks series is proper light ales, they all seem to be between amber and brown. I did speak to them recently about this and they said they are working on their lighter ales... keen to see what they come up with. I have to admit that even though I am getting into the whole grain brewing I can see myself regularly still fermenting their kits, they are too good and very reliable!

I think as you gain confidence with all-grain you’ll worry less about gaps in the range of kits and fill it yourself ;)

Damn I hope you are right, I am a very detail oriented person and have been reading everything I can get my hands on... I have been preparing for this moment for months haha! This is why I am trying to temper my expectations. I have a good friend coming round to help, he knows nothing, but I can totally see how an extra pair of hands could come in useful.

Okay, last one for this evening, finishing off with the Founders American Double IPA, this one brewed around July, strong and flavourful! Absolute rock solid malty backbone and the classic citra hoppiness! All win in my book, far too easy to drink despite it's strength, going to really take my time and enjoy it though!
