Made the mistake of deciding to brew a quick ten litres of Irish Red Ale after work, three and a half hours later it’s in the fermentor to cool and I can finally have a beer (I am strongly of the view that alcohol and boiling liquids don’t mix).

Beer wise it’s Salt Tram Double NEIPA 8%

And it’s good really good, I have mostly as of late being drinking mostly 4-6% session ales, and I have forgotten how nice a really hoppy strong beer can be. Also really Like Salt glasses they are just over two thirds of a pint and will take a 440ml can with a little room for the head perfectly I actually ordered the beer from them this time just to get to the free postage threshold on the glass.

After a trip to the vets and a shopping trip to Aldi, we’ve finally arrived home with this. Definitely not slimming today 🙄

I'm all too familiar with Ballycastle, but have never seen the liqueur. I'd have to pass through Bushmills to get there, and any of my friends will tell you, I'm incapable of passing by a Bushmills!

Oatmeal stout face off Part Deux!

This, courtesy of @pilgrimhudd, is quite different to mine, as the man himself noted upthread. It's noticeably stronger (on paper it's 5% v 4.7%, but feels more to me; I wonder if my calcs are still a bit optimistic. Although I adjusted my spreadsheet after the debate a while back about the right formula to use for calculating ABV). A tasty and enjoyable pint, and I can concur really with pilgrimhudd's earlier comments. This is better carbonated than mine (although mine continues, unsurprisingly, to slowly improve in that respect), and a bit fuller-bodied to match the higher alcohol level.

A fine start to the evening. Nice one! athumb..

There was a debate about ABV?
