Had 2 of these xmas day minute u open can whack of hops is unreal beer is milky more than cloudy but tastes unbelievable wish i could make something even close to it if u ever come across this I really think its worth a shot

On the vocation v Pomona island barrel aged mocha stout. At 12.4% I won't be having another tonight. Really nice, alcohol is not over powering, it's is so thick. Like one of those McDonald thick shakes
 
Opened a 13% Imperial Stout. From a brewing perspective, it is a hell of an achievement. From a taste perspective, it is like drinking a tin of very boozy Lyle's black teacle. I'm full of admiration for the effort but it is not for me. More stunt than beer.
 
Next up, Bateman's Mocha stout. Nice, but like most beers of this ilk, by the end, my taste buds are crying out for a bitter, or similar. To put this into context, however, of of the most common pisstakes of Dad (me) in our house is ' it's nice, but it's a bit rich', which apparently I say to anything 'nice'. So, what I'm saying is, I don't have a sweet tooth at all, so am not best placed to review this type of beer. :laugh8:
 
2nd try after the dishwater disaster earlier.

It tastes ok, more 1698 than vile citra stuff.

But really!
Why do they insist on calling it a black ipa?
Don't they understand that the P and A are for pale ale.
I certainly looks more like stout in its colour & opaque appearance in the glass.
 
Forgot how good this isif you're wondering about the chalice glass,it's because I find that it fits a whole 440ml tin in it at once 😉

Its my favourite go to beer for the weekend, i have never seen it in a can.
 
Sun's gone in so no more nice glowy pictures... Next up is my Kviek Schwarzbier. The roastiness has calmed down but I'm still not convinced I like it. It's going down easy so I guess it's OK...

Festival Spiced Winter Ale
This is very much an example of a beer improved by long aging I packed This beer in a couple, of five litre mini kegs and a 6.5L corny and have slowly being drinking it over the past few months (just opened the last keg today). This was kegged on the 1st August and at the time was completely dominated by cinnamon and alcohol being almost undrinkable, over the past five months however it has mellowed out into a very pleasant winter warmer.
 
Last up, my weizenbock. Fruity, boozy and quite sharp. A bit of overripe fruit too. If I swirl it I get banana but otherwise it's aged out. I should've drunk this one young!
