A bit too much like fruit juice for my liking.

This next. I like the idea of a sour but I do struggle a little with them being too sour or trying to be too clever. This one is oak aged which I thought might be interesting but I’m now not sure it’s a good idea. The beer tastes a bit like an oak barrelled cider that’s maybe on the turn and started to sour. Not very flattering I know and maybe those of you that like sours will tell me this a classic and is brilliant. 🤷‍♂️

I think I’m going to try and brew a raspberry sour that’s more to my taste. Any sours experts like to steer me on the benefits or concerns with kettle souring vs fermenter options like Philly sour yeast? I’m tempted I think to kettle sour.

A braggot courtesy of @pilgrimhudd, poured with a close to crystal amber colour and lowish carb, I'll be honest at first sip I did not like it. however as I made my way down I kept coming back for more. while a pint of it might have been to much, this was an enjoyable beer sweet but not cloying. with noticeable components of a meaty rauch and a dry mead. I really like a dryer finish toy beers and this done certainly delivers. An odd beer. But great fun.

Ahh glad you enjoyed it, it certainly is an odd beer, i'm not sure i'd brew it again but I am (very) slowly getting through them!

Cracking weather this evening but I know it's going to turn really bad over night.

Time for a saison. There as been a lot of debate on saison's on s separate thread but one of the best British breweries for this style is wilderness brewery. Got to be my favourite Welsh brewery. Do loads of Amazing wild style beers and barrel aged.

This saison is 12 month aged in sherry and whiskey barrels and is top notch

Second of the evening by @pilgrimhudd a rum and raisin stout which filled the air on opening. It is exactly as sold. Thick and fudgy with distinct but not dominating rum flavour. Definitely boozy, with an almost oak tinge of sourness to it. Low carb with a jet black colour.

This would make an insane addition to a chocolate sauce!

What an evening to be alive.

A quick check on my stout and half-ass3d attempt at emptying the Golden Delicious PB before moving on.

This one is a Wherry from my mate Pete. It's been in the bottle for 4 months and tastes pretty good. Thanks mate!

Moved on to my Bramling Cross bitter which is much lighter than the Wherry, but way too over-carbonated.
