My Voss Old/Brown ale has come along really nicely, it's a shame I've only got the one bottle left

@matt76 'Chocks Away' ESB with CML Midland yeast.

Pours well with a lovely creamy head. On the amber side, pretty clear, a little bit of chill haze.

NIce slight resin earthy aroma.

Moderately bitter, biscuity, malty with the alcohol coming through. Slightly fruity esters. Quite full bodied but with a dry finish. The abv is on the high side even for an ESB at 6.7% but you can't really tell, it hides it well.

This is a lovely beer, i've really enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to trying the other one with the same malt bill but different yeast later but i'm taking my time with this one.

@matt76 'Chocks Away' with CML Beoir Yeast.

Like the last one, pours well, thick creamy head, slightly darker but still on the amber side. Again a little chill haze perhaps?

Similiar yet slightly stronger resin aroma.

Seems less bitter than the other, maltier, a bit of caramel perhaps and biscuity. I think you can get more alcohol in this one but it's full bodied and sweeter than the last.

I think out of the two I prefer this one, it's more 'drinkable' and I can't get any more scientific than that.

Thanks mate 👍 I had the same conclusion, Midland is a bit more bitter while Beoir is more malty.

On that basis I used Beoir again in my recent porter, but next bitter I make I think I'll use M36.

I fancy a couple of early snifters...a Festival Razorback to start...it's been a good kit and one I would do again.
Back to the dark satanic mill tomorrow....

Go for it Clint, you're only here once. What's the RB like? I presume it's an IPA? is it bitter or hoppy. I'd like to try one.
