Weather is a bit miserable so I’m going for a comfort drink, sweet stout. 6.0%.

Interestingly the flavour of this beer is changing to be less sweet and more roasty. I’m not sure what’s happening there because lactose is non-fermentable :confused.:

a new Lidl opened up in town, would have been rude not to see what was available....
Fruit Chute Amplitude from 71 Brewing Dundee.
Lots of fruit, no chutes so far, lots of amplitude.
Tropical fruits, mango et al with a soft mouthfeel and a pleasant gentle aftertaste. No bitterness at all.

Could be a repeat booking I think, especially at under two quid a tin.

It's a juicy evening!
Finished off the Fruit Shute and I've just started on another juicy one, Juice Forsyth from BrewYork.

Another fruity masterpiece with more of a citrus canvas than the earlier tropical vibes.
Not much of the IPA detectable but that's not a bad thing with this one.
Well balanced and quaffable 👍

Tonight is a good night.
Just switched to Providence from Kirkstall Brewery Leeds.
An honest NEIPA with a powerful hop twang - what's not to like!

Harvey's again today, only 4 years out of date:

Past its best.
Roll on Sunday when I can go home again...

On a similar vein - my Old Tom clone. Bum Tum is a phrase my kids use to describe digestive problems - christened after they smelled the yeast cake. I would say its pretty close to original. No head retention but then nor does the bottled stuff that is now widely available in Sainsbury etc

Are you of the age were you wear nappies. If not I would take a run to the shop.
With the beers drunk this week a nappy would have been a good idea...
Brought 2 5l can home brew with me - gone. Also lots of Abbott, London Pride and Spitfire (well there was). These will see me out - the old beer lottery is a bit of nightly fun 🍻

That’s my local micro. I find their seasonal/special beers much nicer than their core range, which is quite safe (a lager, Dunkel, Porter and APA). I had their Left Coast IPA on keg super fresh after a brewery tour and it was phenomenal. Bought 4 cans of it and was disappointed. It was very good in one of the Dundee pubs that has it on tap as well.

I bought a can of Sapporo tonight because I was brewing a Japanese lager. I’ve not had it for about 10 years, maybe more like 15z It tasted a little oxidised which is weird. Didn’t really enjoy it. Moved onto trying to drink my bottles Homebrew after so I can start using my kegerator properly - I’ve had a Czech pale lager, a witbier (one of 3 bottles that didn’t fit in the keg) and a raspberry Berliner Weisse. The raspberry has been the best of the night, but the wit is superb from the corny, better than the bottle.

@MickDundee I grabbed two of each of everything Lidl had on on the "specialist" shelf today.
Every can was from a Scottish brewery, mostly '71' but there was at least one other brewery maybe more.
I'll make a point of quaffing those tomorrow and report back.

My impressions from this evening, '71' seem to have a nice selection that fit with my palette - I'll put them on my list, no problem.
