Well out of Christmas brews, I decided to try out the tribute 3 clone from @Clint

I actually compared them side by side.

The clone pours a tad bit darker and very clear. Aroma of pizza dough and hint of caramel.
Flavour is bready and biscuity with fruity esters mainly orange and lemon. It's smooth and coating and lingers but drinks easy. Not too bitter and it's really clean, not earthy. Overall it leans more malty.

So a couple of differences, besides the colour. Tribute drinks a bit sharper like it has more sulfate, yours drinks a little smoother like more chloride. Yours is maltier and Tribute is definitely more bitter and hoppier it also tastes a bit more oxidized, like crystal malt oxidized, and less yeasty probably from the bottle conditioning. Tribute is a bit watery where yours was not.

Overall I preferred yours it was quite enjoyable and had more flavour. I liked the smoother mineral profile too. I would recommend to up the hops though and balance the malt a bit more. Might be the only change I would make.

Thanks for letting me compare them, your clone is very close. Maybe use a lighter crystal malt, a bit more hops and some more gypsum and you are there I think. The aroma was exactly the same.

Thanks Pennine! Interesting comments on the malt...I think it was crisp pale and just Munich. St Austell have since advised Maris otter and Munich.
As regards the hops, this version had a hop stand to increase the hop profile,I might increase slightly next time.
Water.. this was adjusted to St Austell water profile.
Thanks again for a great, straight up review!
Glad you liked it!
You'll get a #4 for sure!

Oh yeah just looked it's MO and Cornish gold, I thought that was a crystal but looks closer to Munich.

Did you adjust from RO?

Wilko Thirsty Devil.
Most of this batch was kegged. Went to pour a pint at lunch to find I had drank it all :(
Cracked open one of the handful of bottles, to find it tastes nicer from the bottle. Maybe context is playing its part, having just had a big dinner an sitting next to the fire, or maybe bottle conditioning suits this kit better.
