Welcome to the weekend people! 🥳

I’m going to start this evening with an English Pale Ale.

Electric Bear Guava version of their standard APA. I normally run a mile from fruit beers but this is subtle, dry snd utterly smashable. Lasted about 5 minutes after last work video call of the week.

I picked up this little lot in Tesco earlier, deserved a little something for going shopping with the missus. Where do I start?

PS The Vocation says under "hops" on the label Citra BBC and simcoe. If like me you don't know what BBC is then I don't recommend you google it, I've had to delete my browser history.

I've had my eye on the roaster coaster, Vietnamese coffee stout???

Found a bottle of the belma marzen. Age isn't making this better I may dump... It's pretty though.

Well here we are, Roaster Coaster is up first and I only noticed after pouring that it's 9% abv! The thing about nitro beers is that they always look spectacular, and this is no exception, but tend to disappoint when it comes to flavour. When I see nitro I just think of Guinness, John Smith, Boddingtons and the like. However, pairing the nitro with a huge flavourful beer like an impy is quite frankly a stroke of genius. This is very good indeed. As smooth as silk but huge fruity, roasty, chocolatey flavours with a nice hint of vanilla. The coffee is quite subtle, which is fine by me, but adds a nice depth of flavour. This is going down so easily and it's quite amazing that you can get beer this good in Tesco now.

Ginger Ninja. My latest hard soda. This one has a very unusual taste, I was worried it would be too sharp (and I love sharp!) as when I tested during bottling the lime was overpowering but now it's fine. I used the Wilko Aussie special edition IPA slurry as a base. Dumped a load of Lidl premium lemonade on top, added some blended ginger and limes. Dumped in a litre of orange juice, topped up with a little sugar (to add to the sugar in the lemonade) and left it ferment out.

It's about 4%, you can taste the bitterness from the hops in the slurry and also the orange/lime. My mother in law said it tasted like cider but I'm not sure about that. I'll try and add a pic on mobile. It's very cloudy. Mrs Stu says it looks like dishwater.

Wow I have been tempted to try out a nitro setup and that pic is selling it. Would love to try it with a neipa.

Time to try something from someone else, in this case @Clint

Citra Saison, 6.1%

The bottle cracked with a nice “pssst”, very effervescent through the pour forming a nice airy white head. Very clear, pale golden colour. To the bottom of the pint a thin head is still present.

Aroma is typically spicy, a little pepper, a little fruit but maybe not as much as I expected for Citra?

Flavour is nice. Slightly bready malt, fruity, mild peppery spice, no alcohol taste, no diacetyl, no astringency.

Clean finish, light to medium body and very mild bitterness. Soft mouthfeel.

Very drinkable and I’ve just remembered it’s 6.1% as I finish the pint! 😂

👏 Great job!
