I like a brown ale - have one fermenting at the moment (5 days in I think).

Brown malt doesn’t seem so popular these days but I use quite a bit in brown ales, porters, and stouts.
Powerful stuff, brown malt. I've got a brown ale on keg at the moment and I've used too much, as a result it's too heavy going. I doubt this Joseph Holt's Manchester Brown has any in it, I suspect it's pale, a bit of black, and #3 invert. Perhaps a little crystal?

But, I agree, I really love a good brown ale.

Been drinking....err sampling my MJ juicy sesion IPA, been in the corny a week now and is as good as usual. Did the weekly shop this morning and picked up some bottles as you do, Shipyard IPA, Bombardier, Tribute and Adnams Ghost ship. Now I know from past purchases that I like most of them but never bought a Tribute and drinking it at the mo' and finding it a bit....meh!,

still, got to persivere and drink it, looking forward to the rest tho'.

I quite like Tribute but like many beers, the bottled version falls short.

Surprisingly pleasant. It's not like someone added a dram to a pint. The whisky is subtle on the aftertaste. Malty and moreish.

I like McEwen's beers, even though I know they are just a brand now. Champion is great and I was surprised recently how much I enjoyed a four pack of red death (export). I've always avoided headspace because I feared it would be rank, but I'm intrigued now, and will give a bottle a go. athumb..

Red Death! A few years since I heard that but never a truer statement:laugh8::laugh8:. A night on export was always followed by a hangover from hell or the choice to get straight back on it and repeat.. Champion is a good beer too

To quote Mrs Doyle; Goan goan goan goan!

Since it's a school night I'm only having a glass of something light. In this case it's a ginger beer with a little too much coconut.
I brewed it using the slurry from a Wilko Aussie IPA kit, ginger, coconut flakes and about 24 litres of Lidl premium lemonade.

Talking about brown ales I had to dig one out from my very low stock of bottled ales - I have 3 left.

I love this beer from the keg but even my own beer is not the same from a bottle. 😭 I’ll just have to look forward to my new brown ale being ready.
