I like this a lot. Not sure how a wheat beer is made to the "German purity law" though but that's Aldi for you haha

Continuing my search for a great local beer and tonight I have this rye pale ale. And I have to say this is really good actually. Nice fruity hops and a lovely rich malt flavour with creamy, full mouthfeel. Pleasantly surprised because the last Yardsman beer I had was pretty terrible.

that's actually a good idea to seek out the best local stuff you can find.

do they indicate what kind of hops they are using in there? tropical rye ale sounds interesting.

sipping on a motueka ipa, it really is an interesting hop. floral and a hint of spice, but really fruity as well. then has a nice earthy bitterness.

No indication on the bottle and I'm rubbish at picking out hops. It doesn't really taste tropical to me, more lemony and floral. It actually reminds me a little of the Munich malt IPA you sent me (though this isn't as good).

You’ve inspired me to try a Rye ale from @dave_77. Two mishaps though along the way - I thought I should wash my glass, jammed my hand in, smashed it and proceded to run my finger down the broken edge. The result is a broken glass I loved (Electric Bear 😭) and a bleeding flap of finger. One of these will heal so I don’t care, the other is a bitter heartfelt disappointment and I’m blaming it on the 6% stout!

Now, back to the beer...

What a shame that glass was famous round here, but there's no doubt you got your money's worth from it 😁

Last night shift last night, got up around dinner time and massacred the sanding I had left on my stairs...new sander sheets ripped through it.
I've cleaned up,washed down had a scrub and just poured a Saison...I so needed it!!
I have however lost my centre punch..

Rye ale from @dave_77.

Good strong carbonation when I cracked the bottle giving a good head on the pour. Quite a murky appearance but not in a bad way, kind of like liquid toffee.

The aroma is malt and rye, it’s really nice and reminds me a little of the malt extract my mum gave me to build up my puny ass as a child - I loved it! I can also smell the hops resinous and spicy.

Flavour is beautiful, all the things described in the aroma malt, pepper, spic, a little fruitiness but indistinct so more of an impression than a flavour. The flavours are also reminiscent of a really nice tea (but more) if that makes sense to anyone?

Nice bitterness, quite mild while drinking, stronger at the end, not lingering or building particularly. No astringency.

I still have a little foam on the beer at the end of the pint and really enjoyed it.

I should have said the beer is 5.8%. It doesn’t taste strong but does taste flavourful.

Another good one Dave, I love it athumb..

First day off work in months so went for a walk and found a pub!

Off work too this week. Taken the wife & kids to...

... my Mum's in rural Suffolk - well a different four walls.

Popped to the local Saturday and had Green Jack beer 🍻 Nightingale & Trawler Boys. Back there for dinner tomorrow.

Indian sit in yesterday.

Bewilderwood and fish & chips today.

Almost like real life...

Ghost Ship & Broadside tonight; Cheers🍺
