Washing yeast with a centrifuge

I have always wanted to know what would happen if you recycle yeast using a centrifuge. I finished primary fermentation on a beer, and thought I would give it a go. 3 min @ 3500 RPM after washing with a stir plate for 1 hour.

Did you remove the trub layers first? And by washing on stir plate what did you actually do?

Does this mean you're skilled in Microbiology? Because then perhaps you wouldn't mind answering a couple of questions for me?
