Hiya, is this the idiot section?

In a nutshell, I currently have an AG Brew fermenting in a 5 litre water bottle (the type you get from asda etc)

I went to move it yesterday, and as I did, i must of slightly squeezed it, as it s*cked about a tablespoon of sanitiser from the airlock in to the brew. (Yes, I realise that vodka or starsan would have been a better thing to use)

My question is - is the beer ruined? Is it even safe to drink?

VWB is chlorine based, so I was wondering if throwing in a campden tablet would help?

Any thoughts would be much appreciated

Thanks

It will be fine - i wouldnt put a campden tablet in now.

I have always just used water - apart from gin on my first AG, as I was paranoid.

Hi a campden tablet might actually help as it neutralises chlorine as a by-product so won't do any harm at the least!

No point putting VWP in the airlock, it loses it's effectiveness as the chlorine evaporates.

I just use water as well.

Welcome. With the small amount s*cked in you will be fine. Go ahead and bottle.

Thank you.

Maybe i'll call this one 'Dubious Pale Ale' ;)
