For those lucky enough to have a home charger we should be able to connect and feed back into the grid when demand is high as long as you set limits on your EV this could be a 2 way streak use the millions of EV batteries to share our excess energy when produced then feed back in when demand out strips supply would make it truly flexible.
Also why not mandate every new build where possible has solar and battery systems and EV charging fitted as standard this would slowly build a network of storage and home generation

Some EVs can do this, and Octopus has a vehicle-2-grid tariff where you charge for free if they can use your battery for storage, but it only works with a couple of Japanese cars and one particular charger at the moment :

The solar is already effectively mandated -builders have to get so many green "points" on new builds and PV is one of the cheapest ways to earn points, but it can get gamed by builders just putting up a couple of token panels in a bad orientation.

Exactly this. Hundreds of new build estate houses with a pair of panels.

The only ones I've seen with sufficient panels have been a handful of posh self builds.

Although to give them their dues the local council has been covering some of the remaining council house rooves when they refurbish.

Yes a tad frustrating that they only support a charger no longer on sale and very restricted EVs.
I would be happy to use my EV in this way it makes sense to even out the peaks and troughs in energy if this was widely adopted it would remove the need to flash up expensive gas power stations that still effectively govern the price of wholesale sale electricity
