Malt quantities and yield (from beer smith) from last time I brewed this;

3.36 kg Extra Pale Malt, Maris Otter, yield 82.5%
1 kg Vienna Malt, yield 78%
0.94 flaked oats, yield 80.4%
0.23 kg Cara-Pils/Dextrine, yield 72%
0.23 kg CaraGold, yield 75%
0.18 kg Acid Malt, yield 58.7%

70% mash efficiency, 25 litre batch, OG was bang on 1.045
That's great will try that. Is the acid malt just something extra you have added? Can I leave that out?

Just comparing your yields to mine and they are pretty close. Mine are slightly lower. Seems quite a big difference in final abv to what the hop and barley recipe said. Is this just down to different brewing systems?

What batch size are you using in your brewing software? The original recipe is 20l, my quantities are for a 25l batch

the acid malt is for ph correction, if you are not treating your water I wouldn’t worry about it

I can't view the image but have you thought about increasing the batch size by a couple of litres rather than reducing the grain?

Yeah I did and that's what I would prefer to do but wasn't sure if this would mean I would need more hops.

Just had a look at the recipe for the Malt miller kit on their site interesting to see they are using 1500g of Flaked Oats, which is double to the recipe I followed.

If I was brewing it I think I would leave the hops as they are and go for 22 or 23l bach

Thanks martin. I emailed them and they said not to add the flaked oats as a fermentable. Which brings the abv down to about 3.9%. But then I was thinking its flaked oats including husk so is it going to be 50 to 70% fermentable? Which may make it about right?

this has been my experience with flaked oats (including husk) from malt miller. Both times I used them I was way under on og. Took the oats out of the recipe in beer smith the actual og matched the predicted. I just tend to use jumbo oats from the supermarket now and don’t have a problem

+ 1 The husks just don't seem opened up enough

Struggling to get the magnum hop pellets for this. Only need 6 grams so what can I use instead?

One more question.... I have entered this recipe into Brewfather but it’s only showing the beer to have a finished IBU of 9 which seems really low? Does that sound right? Or any idea why it is so low? Thank you.
