In my experience, breaking the nicotine addiction is easy; breaking the smoking habit is very, very difficult. Eventually after trying every single 'alternative' and failing, I gave in to the fact that there is no hope for me and embraced the habit with gusto instead of spending my days with this giant monkey on my back.
I think you really have to want to quit for it to be a success thinking if you quit you could buy something you cannot afford now with the money you save is nor going to work and that was my problem and the reason i failed so many times, i loved smoking especially in the pub with a pint and after a big meal when you feel full to bursting (Christmas dinner) and if it had not been for my workmate dying so young (i think he was 59) i would probably still be smoking 30 a day now.
