The threat of a £200 fine and 6 points is still not stopping these idiots.

I hope the driver that caused this drives for a company as i am sure he will be sacked thank god the car driver had the balls to drive in front of the wagon or the poor lad on the bike could easily have been killed.

I see people on their phones every single day whilst commuting, real cross section of people.

The message just isn't sinking in, I mean seriously it can wait.

I have said in the past the only thing that stands a chance of stopping these idiots is an instant ban as people obviously think the slim chance of getting caught is worth the risk of losing £200.

.

disgraceful, when are the appropriate authoritys gonna get hold of this killer habit properly.a 5 year ban and a minimum thousand pound fine.it astounds me that folk will pay hundreds for a state of the art smart phone but jack**** for a cheap hands free ..........idiots the lot of them and deserve everything they get when caught

I'm guaranteed to see at least 10 people a week and I'm not joking.
I use a Bluetooth visor unit from LIDL and if it's not on I either don't answer or whoever is in the passenger seat will do it.
Ironically the amount of traffic cams in our town and they could be serving a whole different purpose I they were used properly.Take a look around next time you're sat a the lights and it will amaze you as I'm quite sure it's the same in alot of areas.

Nowt will change until it has the same stigma as drink-driving and look how long that took to come about.

No excuse for it at all, mind you a week ago we were passed whilst out walking by a cyclist on his phone:nono:.

A warning letter

Dashcam footage captures 'distracted' driver

Norfolk Police said the driver was given a warning letter.

It wants other people to send in dashcam footage which shows drivers breaking the law.

I liked the "wonder what the score is" bit

Trouble is a warning letter is all the Police can do as I wouldn't think 3rd party video evidence wouldn't stand up in court. The defendant would just cry "photshopped" and get off. I remember the stories a while back of people getting off speeding fines as the speed camera hadn't been calibrated that day.

If they will not bring in an automatic ban the phone companies are going to have to come up with a means of disabling phones when they are travelling above a certain MPH people will moan that passengers on public transport etc will be punished but surely its a small price to pay if it stops one death on the roads due to these idiots not being able to leave their phones alone.

I personally think it should be treated in the same way as drink driving, an automatic 12 month ban. That will make people think twice.

If I am walking and see someone stopped in traffic using their phone I shout 'smile' and pretend to take a photo of them on my phone. One guy once yelled at me that he'd have me done for invasion of privacy, he's probably onto something which just shows how stupid the law is!

I think if the case went to court it wouldn't be you on the receiving end of the fine.
