Use for sparkling water?

I bought some 1 litre plastic bottles today with the ultimate intention of putting beer into them. Currently they contain sparkling water and as I don't drink the stuff (well, not the sparkling version anyway) I was wondering if it's good for anything else home brew? As far as I'm aware it's not suitable for use in the fermenter as it's already pumped full of carbon dioxide. Would it be any good for sanitising with Star San/Chem San (still Ashbeck water seems to be a popular choice for that) or is sparkling water best kept away from the brewing process entirely?

Check the mineral content. If it's high in the minerals you want, add it to your mash and sparge water. If it's low in minerals then just use it like water. As soon as you heat it the bubbles will be driven off.
