Hi All,

Was just wondering if it's possible to go through mashing process twice (one right after the other) and putting the wort into a single kettle and then bring it to the boil?

I calculate there would be about 1.5 to 2 hours that the wort would sit in the kettle before being brought to the boil. Aside from possible hot side oxygen pickup (which could be minimised) is there anything else to worry about?

Thanks,

Yeah...It would be fine, if i read it right, just dont leave boiled wort hanging about!

It will be fine, although I am slightly struggling to see why anyone would want to unless you have a huge boiler and a tiny Mash Tun.

I've never been convinced about Hot Side Aeration so I wouldn't worry about that.

I mash over night and the mash will sit there for 7-8 hrs in the mash tun before it is sparged and boiled. Theoretically if you left it longer and the temp dropped below 54c it could get infected which though it would be sanitised when boiled it may be long enough for off flavours to develop.

But as I say a couple of hours should be fine. :thumb: :thumb:
