Hi all
I would love to make a turbo cider for Xmas so SWMBO can try some home brew. Do I still have time? I would also like to make it similar to 'old mout berries and cherries' any tips would be gratefully received.

Here's what I've done15l a1. 5 l ribena 4 teabags in 800ml water stewed for 10 mins
4tsp pectalose sachet mangrove Jack's sn9 yeast(as recommended by lhbs)
Og 1042
Lets see what happens

Here's what I've done
15l aj
1.5l ribena
800ml tea (4teabags stewed)
4tsp pectalose
1 sachet sn9 yeast (recommended by lhbs)
Og 1042
Any suggestions on how much priming sugar in 2 weeks
Let's see what happens

The ribena could cause problems with yeast stalling as it contains preservative, some say boiling the ribena for 10mins or so gets rid of this but from experience I tend to disagree. Best sticking with polish lowitz if you can get it.
As for priming (if it does eventually ferment out) 1tsp plain sugar per 500ml bottle.

Having tried to make Ribena wine in my early days i can confirm the preservative slows the fermentation down to a standstill long before its finished even after boiling it for 15 minutes as was recommended in the recipe, i hope it turns out OK or like me you will end up with something sickly sweet with little alcohol.

I'm going to try this recipe, but so I don't have to pop out on a wild wet and windy night...will it work with mixed juice, or should it be just apple!?

Oh, sorry, I wasn't clear....

Taking g th advice above and having used Lowizc before, I'll use Polish syrup, most likely.

Does that mean it should work with mixed juice....I just can't call it cider!?:tinhat:

There is some activity in the fv will leave it alone for a couple of weeks and check sg. I have found pixleys blackcurrant cordial at waitrose would that be better? I would post a link but not sure how.

So 36hrs in this is how it looks IMG_20181129_092555.jpg

so, three TCs underway for the past week. Straight cherry. straight Tropical fruit, and straight a/j.

Can i ask, does sweetener affect the sg at all?
