Despite the media spectacle and the moments of absurdity, the situation and potential fallout remain extremely sobering, My thoughts are with ordinary people in the US in the coming hours.

The BBC shows this, from Getty images and says "Protesters, some of whom are armed, have convened outside the vote counting centre in Phoenix, Arizona".

David, but nearly *all* successful politicians display psychopathic tendencies
Yeah, there's a big difference though between a few quirks and a big ego and the way 45* checks all the boxes of a psychopath. Also, "confidence" versus "mania" are not the same thing. I've just been watching a rundown of the crazy and insane things 45* has been saying for days and weeks, his sexual predator history, his unprecedented lying, his overt lying about his actual wealth versus his huge debt, his power hunger, his total lack of ability to interact sanely with other humans, etc. so that's what I'm talking about and not a man or women who's imperfect.

Live in hope unfortunately on this election part of me fears the comment from a Biden spokesman is going to come true.
There will be a point where 45*'s "allies"--that word being quoted because they are using him to achieve and hold power. When he's no longer useful, which is occurring, they will abandon him as there's no actual loyalty there. Right from the get go, The GOP new who 45* was and said so--all very negative comments on him. When 45* appealed to the baser instincts of half the population here, the GOP had no choice but to support him--cowards they are, one and all for sacrificing their integrity.
The big disaster here in America is the GOP-controlled Senate that had ample opportunity to set things right by convicting him during the impeachment. The GOP continued to look out for their own interests and not the USA's. It took a lot to push us this close to the ledge and we're still not out of danger even if Biden wins.
Interesting note is that the Senate GOP majority represents 15M FEWER Americans than the Senate minority. Plus 45* lost the popular vote by 3M in '16.

I assumed it was his IQ...
The man is an idiot. Actually thought stealth tech made the craft invisible, using a thermonuclear device to disperse a hurricane was a good idea, raking forest floors would eliminate fires, shining a light of a particular wave length INSIDE THE BODY would eliminate COVID and one of the more head-shaking was injecting disinfectants to eliminate COVID (caused a rash of calls to the Poison Control Centers).

Please don't take this the wrong way but is the average American thick or in your own terms an idiot.
I still struggle to understand what they were thinking voting him in the first time...

@DavidDetroit how would you seriously gauge the probability of civil unrest in the fallout to this, beyond isolated incidents?
Mass civil unrest? Zero
Violent, isolated incidents? I don't see how those are going to be avoided, including people being killed. Other than that it will happen, I can only speculate.
The far-right is being actively incited to violence by the US President. There are heavily armed men with military-grade weapons in the mix. They are organized. The white supremacist groups are the biggest terrorist threat on American soil according to the FBI.
If the left-wing activists can just stay out of the way and not do marches and so forth, I'd have more confidence; however, each side can find out where the other is going to be.

You're not alone. I think exactly the same way. I've had four years to ponder this.
When you rule by fear, as 45* has done--even prior to '16, you are able to hijack the loyalty of the group who thinks this leader, who's ruling by fear is, literally, the only one who can protect them. Thus you get the apologist thing going for any misdeed no matter how heinous. The "fact" that he can save them outweighs all of his transgressions. These folks believe that their lives are in mortal danger so you get that crazy loyalty. There is a decent percentage, as well, that knew what he was but saw that he would forward an agenda they liked regardless of the harm inflicted on the US, it's people and the world at large.
A potential leader or leader has a solemn obligation to protect the public and especially those whose mental and physical well-being is less. In other words, this maleable group shouldn't be taken advantage of. 45* came along and had no problem taking advantage of those people, scaring the bejeezus out of them and manipulating them.

Me, personally? I didn't follow a bit of politics before '16. My wife is intelligent and we think alike on the important topics so she would do the research as I found the whole area of politics unpalatable.

Anyway, I saw 45* stand behind Clinton at a debate playing the fool--deal breaker. Found out that 45* had owned casinos--deal breaker. Nothing against gambling, more or less, but gambling inherently takes advantage of a human weakness. It's why I could never own a simple bar that opens at 7am to feed the alcoholics. I would own a restaurant that serves food, beer and wine though.

The other choice was Clinton i wasn't surprised he won.
Clinton was the target of a Russian disinformation campaign which is not even up for debate. There was a whole host of other things going on--Wiki leaks, Comey's decision to bring it up right before the election. There's more but Clinton's rep was thoroughly tarnished. Ironically, she was probably the most qualified person to run for office due to her vast knowledge and experience.

It still blows my mind that there are Americans walking around with assault rifles where they really have no business being. It's strictly for intimidation.
A whole group stormed the Michigan Capitol with assault weapons. What did 45* say? Nothing.

They did a brilliant job they made her sound a worse option than Trump that must have been a huge challenge.

That is what still amazes me, was Clinton perfect, of course not, but she was competent had being a senator, then secretary of stare, did she have some skeletons in her closet (probably but I doubt many people who have being in Politics as long as her don’t ’). Instead the USA ended up with Trump a man that should have being considered a joke candidate who should drop out after the first few primaries.

I have removed several posts tonight could i remind members the thread is about Trump v Bidon not about the U.K and the conservative government, thanks.

It looks like there will be a recount in Georgia as its so close after yesterday it looked al but guaranteed for Trump Biden now leads by the tiniest of margins. But since Biden now leads in Pennsylvania it won't matter anyway unless it swings back to Trump in which case (and only if Georgia's recount goes to Trump) it all hangs on Nevada with Biden having a small lead.

How can anyone just walk the streets with assault rifles, frightening.
