I thought I would treat the Mrs and we talked about it and she prefers the cheaper brands so its pointless really, shame as I like MM and was going to go for this.
Why pointless? It’s still quite a bit cheaper and saves 19 plastic bottles and carting around 19kgs of water around the place. Could be nicer too.I thought I would treat the Mrs and we talked about it and she prefers the cheaper brands so its pointless really, shame as I like MM and was going to go for this.
It's pointless for us as she gets 3 litres for a pound and they last months. Why pointless? It’s still quite a bit cheaper and saves 19 plastic bottles and carting around 19kgs of water around the place. Could be nicer too.
Haha fair enoughIt's pointless for us as she gets 3 litres for a pound and they last months.
If I started drinking gin again I would have kegs of gin never mind tonicHaha fair enough
Just add it in the keg at the start. Safety measure to stop a heavy handed pourIf I started drinking gin again I would have kegs of gin never mind tonic
In NZ legal to distill your own spirits, but I'm not going there. A neighbour does distill but I haven't been to see it all happening. If I started drinking gin again I would have kegs of gin never mind tonic
If you look up how much sugar is in the tonic you like then multiply that amount to make 20L.How much sugar would you put in a keg instead of the sweetener?
According my findings, I'll need nearly 1kg, is that right? If you look up how much sugar is in the tonic you like then multiply that amount to make 20L.
Looks right to me. Schweppes has 12g per 250ml = 48g per L = 960g/20LAccording my findings, I'll need nearly 1kg, is that right?

Where did you get the quinine from? Can you share the recipe you used?My wife bought a packet of quinine bark and made her own tonic water; you make it as a concentrate and just dilute it with fizzy water as needed (I have a carbonation cap so I just reuse pop bottles and fizz up tap water from my CO2 bottle). It was a lot better than the usual cheap brands, similar to fever tree, and it lasted ages as the sugar preserves it.
I was lazy, and used the sachet included, not as horrible like some diet soft drinks. But next time I'll use sugar.Did you end up adding the sugar. I've got a pack to use but would rather use sugar than sweetener, am interested in your experience.
Thanks
