....... who are very quick to step in if comments get even remotely out of hand. thanks guys.

This is quite true. We normally try to step in before things get out of hand.
We're all aware of forums out there on the interweb (on various subjects) which are absolutely horrible and intimidating places. HBF has a rep for being really friendly and not one of them. The only way we can keep the place as friendly as it is, is by stepping in when necessary. We've been accused of being overly censorous in the past. But It's a fine balancing act to be able to let people have their say on things and allowing things to go too far descend into a vitriolic slanging match

Thanks for the forum love people :hat:

Photographic Forums are the worst IMO......they all end up in chaos or just a load of useless back slapping. The vintage motor cycle forums seemed pretty OK as well. Im guessing it all depends what sort of people a forum hopes to attract.

The football forum a few of us on here get on is absolutely farsical at times, it descends in to chaos...makes for great entertainment at times mind.

I know what you mean. I would have to sit on my hands to stop myself typing something I may regret!

My Mrs. used to be on a Gardening forum which she eventually left because it used to dissolve into a slanging match every few weeks and because people were posting on every subject imaginable except gardening. At least we p**s-heads know why it is that we're on here.

Agree with all previous posts...in my short time as a home brewer, I have learnt so much from this forum...all queries are responded to with helpful answers...no matter how many times the same question is asked...

This is so true. I keep an eye out for posts with no answers and if I can answer (even if it's just a partial answer) but 0 answer post are quite rare n the forum and almost all posts have at least 1 or 2 answers

I thought the forum rules ban such expressions as google it. Or search for it. I've answered the same questions hundreds of times as have others for newbies. We were all newbies at one time.

As everyone else says. This place is friendly and informative. And I've also won a few bottles here to :-) as well as the of competition.

Hence why I try to give away a bottle everytime I brew.

Anyway, house work for me now :-(

Just a tad like. Who can forget the threats being dished out for eating the wrong type of haribo or putting sauce on a steak!!!

Very true... but, sorry to be a downer, but we also have to remember we are a group who deals with a substance that can produce or inflate peoples' dark side... liked, wished or supported. There is a point with us that have to just shrug it off. That doesn't mean that I am saying that people can be trolls or just straight out cold. But forgiving or seeing someone is just venting, is how we become stronger members. We have all had our low moments and, to think it's out of place to vent here, is a simple view. To me it is deeper. A person like that sees this group as a place they can feel safe and sometimes stress comes out. But this forum is rare. The admins seem to know this and are not just quick to ban. But let time defuse the issue.
I wish I could just praise the admins but all of you, keep up the good work.

I have to agree with you all as I have been on quite a few forums and with hierarchy, knowledge snobs and what ever else they push at you I have yet to see it.Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but it is down to delivery and how it is perceived.I brewed years ago with no help and found this forum to be so helpful, responsive and supportive never mind combining lots of other interesting subjects to the point where it becomes addictive. So to all moderators, members new and not so new cheers 👍🍺

Seconded, since we started the competition I've asked for loads of posts to be amended or moved and they've all been done for me. :thumb:

Agree with the OP.

I have friends who use facebook and are ok brewing groups on there but nothing they've shown me has got me as interested as all the threads on here. Really encouraging bunch of people.

Big up yourselves.

Unlike OP I am a little tipsy as my second ever brew (imperial stout) has matured a bit already and has gone right to my head.
