Yeah, thought so. We had some microbiology boffin come to work to give us a talk and he said it's difficult to treat infections that are fungal as they need to kill "animal"...and once they're in your body....

This thread should be labeled "Bash the Vegan and Veggie Thread."
I'd be leery of the backlash if I were to post here that I ate a boiled carrot some time in the past week.

Chill ya beans, I think that's a bit sensitive. It's mainly food that's having the Mick taking out of it rather than people, and there have been plenty saying positive things. I know your country is about to explode into a civil war, but lighten up, it's just grub.

Hey Dave I'm not trying to bash or belittle anyone....
Just trying to understand the food labelling and the mental attitude of what's been mentioned..ie. veg food made to look like and called "meat".
It's like a contradiction...I don't care if people like meat or not...

Yes or things like chicken nuggets, which sometimes have less chicken in than other ingredients, and yet bizarrely still get called ‘chicken’ nuggets.

or the old chestnut ‘pork’ sausages, with 49% pork....

Or ‘beef’ lasagne, made from horse...

But that’s ok, because they’re all ‘technically’ still meat right?

Amusingly there is actually a brand called ‘This is Not...’, for instance ‘This is Not Bacon’. Presumably aimed at these kind of peculiar reactions to vegetarian food.

I don't understand why you find it so hard to understand. Many people who change their diet to exclude meat do not do so because they hate the taste. Quite the opposite, they enjoy the taste of meat but rather not have animals die for their enjoyment when there are increasingly passable alternatives.

Not everything has to be literal and it's laughable that people get their knickers in a twist over it. If you look up the definition of "ball", then the word had no place in food yet you don't to see to take issue with the word meatball. Your argument would be akin to saying, "why are you calling it a meatball? You don't play any sports with it." It's ludicrous, and shows an ignorance of how the English language works. Though I'm sure you're just being obtuse because you object to people choosing not to eat meat.

It's a bit miss leading....I don't think you can call your house/place a "farm" in the UK unless it is...

Given that all of the foods that are mentioned in this thread are preceded by "vegan", "vegetarian" or other words to that effect, I'd suggest you'd have to be utterly ******** to find their description misleading.

Here is some mincemeat. Discuss.
