I have moved the posts below out of the Covid thread, the subject comes up fairly often so now there is a place to discuss it. C-T.

I believe its the do gooders you know the type to much of that is bad for you they are worse than vegans at promoting their healthy life styles, sad *******s :tinhat:

I think what i mean is, if you want to live what you deem a healthy lifestyle by all means do but do not make my choices for me i am more than capable of doing that and please stop calling grass meat

Who's calling grass meat?? Not to defend vegans here (I'm a card-carrying omnivore, I love a nice steak) but I've never heard anyone say that?

I "think" although might be wrong its when they call vegan food like vegan beef burgers, vegan bacon Vegan mixed kebabs ect.

WTF! o_O

Why is there no vegan fish like fingers or fillets. You could have vegan fish and chips with gluten free batter and all fried in vegan lard or dripping.

You can get vegan fish and chips - they make it out of tofu IIRC. I have a daughter who is veggie and much of the vegan stuff she doesn't like very much. I think the ability to make quorn or soya type products more tasty with real cheese improves things.

I hope its sustainable line caught vegan fish.

Hmm. I get that to an extent, but it's just to give a point of reference, surely? If someone offered me a vegan protein disc or a veggieburger I know which I'd be likely to choose.

(It's neither if there's a meat burger available. But at least I understand what a veggieburger is.)

kofta is a better term than meatball, covers all manner of sins then.
Speaking of which, if anyone has a good veg kofta recipe to share...(I’ve a good lamb one) And not just flinging some pakora into curry sauce as I’ve seen done before.

I'm not sure how relevant to this thread this is, but Linda McCartney died in 1998 aged 56.
Which puts her on a similar pedestal to Colonel Sanders who died in 1980.
That said I am unlikely to eat either of the products that bear their name.
Linda McCartney fake meat pies used to be remarkably good for veggie food.

It's already at the EU parliament to stop the use of meat derivative names on veggie food such as sausage burger etc

I understand people not wanting to eat this or that...fine,get in with it
What I struggle with is likes been said...why on earth if you was against eating meat would you want your food to look,be called and even attempt to taste like it?
There was some Berk on a programme last night saying their family didn't drink alcohol, fine I got no problems with that, but he said he was sure his mum and aunty "get drunk" on Apple juice as they start acting silly when they drink it...yeah right o...they must eat a pkt if yeast with it and stand next to the radiator.

I prefer Beyond burgers and beyond sausages to their meat equivalent.

I also can’t tell the difference between a Linda McCartney sausage roll and a standard Tesco sausage roll.

also

one time when I was young the orange juice fermented in the fridge when it got really hot.... maybe the apple juice thing was like that?

When I have a funny five and try and eat less meat the Linda McCartney sausages are ok. And Quorn instead of meat in a Bolognese or chilli is ok as well.

I watched that vegan documentary on Netflix which was good but they do try and push their agenda a lot regarding dairy farming etc. Although I do sometimes wonder who was the first person to try a cows milk and decide it was fantastic.

Because meat is delicious, if you can get something approaching that flavour without killing animals then why not? Also not every vegetarian / vegan chooses that diet for moral reasons.

Again I'll point out I'm a committed meat eater but I've heard this argument so many times and it just doesn't hold water. Except for vegan cheese, that nonsense can get in the bin.
