Apparently, the Government are now testing 10,000 people a day; so with a population of 60 million we will have tested everyone in about 16 years ...

... and yet Charlie boy and his squeeze can get tested immediately!

I presume that the same rules are being applied to the usual gang of Royalty, their hangers-on and other members of the glitterati.

This is getting silly now you really do need to drop this.

They have admitted they don't have enough kits to test everyone so they are going to start with front-line staff and go from there, to be honest i think you already knew that when you posted this.

I've been wondering how they're going to staff these Nightingale hositals. The Excel one needs 16,000 staff. Now I'm assuming a portion of those wont be Dr's, Nurses and other medical specialists but they're still going to need plenty of the above. Surely all the hospitals up and down the country need all the Dr's/Nurses they can get at the moment and cant spare any (especially as their are 10's of thousands of vacancies in the NHS at the moment anyway). Also if Dr's/Nurses are going off sick/self isolating how do they replace them?

I assumed it was just for coronavirurs patients to try and keep the bug spreaing around the rest of hospitals?

If you're looking for some brighter news, the cost of heating oil has plummeted to around 25-28p a litre. I've just ordered a tank load, so now we can all be warm and toasty while we are going bananas during lock down / suffering from the lurgy.

A mate of mine used to run his old diesel car on that, he used to throw a mug of clean engine oil in with a full tank to keep the pump etc lubed the guy at the place he used to buy it was under the impression he had some big greenhouses he needed to heat as he used to buy 4 x 25 litre drums at a time.

I don't want to drag this thread off topic, but my understanding is that some aviation fuel, domestic heating oil and red diesel are very, very similar and mostly interchangeable in many applications. Although, if I see EasyJet filling up on heating oil I might get off the plane, just in case.

Believe me stating its going to take 16 years to get everyone tested was the silly part the second part made it no less silly.

The comments from the medics in the Kings College Covid 19 tracker study team is that studies (in China) have indicated smoking increases the risk of self diagnosed CV19 symptoms - fever and persistent coughing - by about 26% and other studies are showing an even higher risk. So their advice is to stop smoking to allow the lungs to recover a little to increase oxygen transfer efficiency which might prove critical if you are to get over CV19 should you catch it.

I remember when bird flue was first discussed it was going to wipe 2 to 150 million of us out, that didn't materialise but here we are today with a long way to go and no one knows what the final figure will be, Covid-19 may not be the big one but i fear that will come in the future, i doubt many of us olds will be around to see it if we do get through this.
