Tastless cider

My brother and I have just finished our first cider. We made 5 gallons and split it up into 5 different demijohns and flavoured each one seperatly; Dry(ish), Sweet, Lemon, Spiced and honey. but non of them had much flavour, does anybody know why?

Did you use a cider yeast?

I used a wine yeast. I asked the guy from the suppliers and he suggested it.

Not done any ciders yet but I have been told a non-cider yeast can result in a loss of taste from the apples.

was it a cider kit or a TC?

a TC, it was basically, 5 gallons of apple juice, a sachet yeast and then any flavourings.

The first batch of cider i made from a kit i split between a barrel and bottles. The bottles tasted great, the barrel was tastless. Not sure if this has anything to do with it or why your's is tastless. But i always bottle now rather than barrel and have never had the problem since.
