Hello All,

Does anyone have an experiance of usin T90 / pellet hops in the FV. It strikes me as a better idea for HB than using whole cone as they will settle out in the turb. Useful if you are moving to a secondary, hopping then racking off after they have settled out?

With out any first hand experiance of t90's I dont know what you will loose/gain in terms of aroma/flavour in adding them at the 'dry hop' stage in the FV?

Thanks :thumb:

ive heard of a few people using them as no need for a hop bag and they settle out(ish...) in a week, use em after initial ferments died off, bobs your aunties live in lover

Sounds good.

I have heard of people quick mixing them with boiling water to get them in a mush before hand. The quick hit of temperature gives the fermentation a boost as well.

I think I'll give it ago!

I switched to using pellets for dry hopping rather than whole hops wherever possible as they seem to work better. I wouldn't bother mixing them with boiling water first - just chuck them in and they soon hydrate and form a layer of mush on the top then the bits cascade down through the beer and settle out.

All my commercial dry hopped beers are done with pellets. They're much easier to clear up than cones :thumb:
