Morning all,
I was admiring one of my bottled batches of homebrew (sad I know but there we go) when i realised what I thought were bubbles attached to the inside of the bottle was actually matter of some kind. My first thought was that this might be some kind of mould growing in the beer. It has been bottled for less than three weeks and I had taken care to make sure the bottles were sterilised properly when i bottled up. It is in a clear bottle but it is in a cupboard with no direct sunlight on it. I put this batch through a secondary fermentation which meant it was pretty clear going into the bottles.
could this just be suspended matter from the brew itself? I'm tempted to open it and taste it but its only 10.24am and I know what will happen if I do.
Do clear bottles need to be stored in a completely blacked out environment as the cupboard I have them stored in would let a little light in albeit not directly onto the bottles.
If I was complacent when sterilising would mould grow that quickly in the bottle considering it contains alcohol and hops which will go some way to preserving it.
I had some of the brew yesterday which came out of brown bottles from the same batch and these seemed fine. Ive checked other clear bottles in the batch and some seem to have this matter in it whilst others don't.
Can anybody offer any advice as its brought my mood down a little and I want it picked back up again.
Ta.

It will be yeast.

Some strains are more prone to this than others, I get it happening around every three brews, I use all kinds of yeast and never pay that much attention so I can't say which ones are more or less prone I'm afraid.

As Hawks says, give the bottles a twist or a gentle agitation and it'll drop out.
