For a night of “kidney rinsing” I use my home brew. Any beer purchases are for a one-off “I fancy a change” or for “research” purposes.

For the former, my local microbrewery has a very good and well-priced bottle shop with beers from all over the UK, as well as Europe and the USA.

It looks like I’ll be buying more beer over the next few months - due to move house in the next 6-8 weeks so once my quickly-diminishing stocks are gone it’ll possibly be a while before I can brew any more.

That is a sad day. Hope the move goes well and the bottle shop serves you well until you are able to provide for yourself again :hat:

It’ll be worth it in the end - utility room with a window the perfect height for venting my boiler, garage with enough room for a fermenting chamber and, eventually, a kegerator. It’s exciting stuff - a major upgrade from a brewbelt in the cupboard under the stairs, wiping condensation from the kitchen units!

When you've got you mancave/ brewery all set up, you'll be looking back all misty eyed, saying 'those were the days'

Anyone still remember Watneys Red Barrel?

https://www.retrowow.co.uk/retro_britain/keg_bitter/watneys_red_barrel.html

Even with a free key ring WRB lost out to the cheaper lagers available at the time. aheadbutt

You mean one of these?

I seem to remember WRB as one of those 7 pint party cans. Bit before my time though really.
As a young un I remember being in a pub garden one summer night with my coke and packet of crisps while my Dad & Uncle were having pints and thinking how great the colour looked.
I really have no idea if it was WRB they were drinking but it was that era.

Even in Australia the supermarkets are getting in on the act.
The two largest supermarkets have both ripped off a well known brewer by cloning their beers.

That's the Key Ring alright. Just looking at it has got my saliva flowing, ready to kill the taste! :laugh8:

I've owned or lived in a lot of "house + garage" combinations over the years and I can't remember EVER using the garage to store my car! By the time I've set up my workbench, brewing gear and tools there's hardly been enough room for the garden gear, pushbikes, kids stuff etc etc.

I would have needed a garage the size of an aircraft hanger to get a car in there as well so, as I have seldom seen a car with a rusty roof, I've left it outside on the drive.

So, I have to ask, "Does ANYONE actually put a car in their garage?" :?: :?:

Double garage here. Lived here 20 odd years. I think a car may have gone in once.
I think my mates put their Harley's in it one night too.
Other than that no.
We do have a double carport at the front of the house though.

Right back off to the garage and all the homebrew and tools etc........

Over the years I ALWAYS stored my motorbikes in a garage or their own shed; and when I could afford a decent bike (e.g. Honda Pan European) it was also wiped dry and chained to a post concreted into the floor!

But a car? Never! clapa

We won’t be. It’ll be home to my gym equipment (that previously lived outside) and brew stuff. And until we do the garden next summer it will also house the lawnmower and the kids’ garden toys.
