if I were to make a fruity rose with 1L RGJ, 1L Apple Juice & 1L of cherry/peach etc, would I top up the rest with water? so like 1500ml? (only making 4.5L demijohn batches at the moment)

You could top up with juice but i think it will taste great topped up with water.

I have 2 bottles of RGJ & 4 cartons of apple juice. could I get 2 batches out of that?

I only use 1 litre of each juice in a DJ then top up with half a litre of apple juice so you have enough to make 2 DJ's (a litre of RGJ and a litre of Apple juice) with a litre of apple juice to top up or you could leave enough head-space to top up with a full litre of apple juice in each.

Started this, will edit when I see how it turns out:

5L PET DJ - 1150g sugar total

1 bottle Lowicz Strawberry 440ml
1L Vitalit RGJ (because I had one left)
1L AJ from concentrate
520g caster sugar - Whizz method instead of melting it
1 generous tsp YSWYC
1 generous tsp Pectolase as got a chill haze last time I made a WoW
1 tsp glycerine (never used it before)
small tsp citric adic
1 tsp yeast nutrient
No tea bags as heard the syrups are fairly tannic though not sure is strawberry is.
Topup with water to 4.5l

Did you top right up or just to the shoulder?

Others will know best but I thought tannin came from grape skins so not sure you will have much in those ingredients. We normally add a tsp or tea / raisin juice to the Wow that also use 1L of grape juice.

I would add the tannin, pectolase won't stop a chill haze, if the wine was clear when it went in the fridge the pectolase had done its job already, I would add some with the tea.

After a year and a half off home brewing wow variants, (pregnancy related)
The bug has returned.

Just cleaned & sterilised two 25l fermenters and 7 galllon dj's

Realised that theres a shortage of wgj now but stocked up on rgj and apple juice.

Going to get busy brewing over the weekend.

Just fetched the last of my supplys.

Quick question to remind myself...

For doing a 25l batch its x5 on everything but the yeast?

Theres a thought, i best hit tescos and empty the bottled water isle:mrgreen:

Welcome back

Yes, i only use 3 teaspoons of yeast.

Why do you use bottled water? (i use tap water)

.

Mainly for easiness.. Can use the empties if needed.
No messing about measuring tap water, boiling it then filling jug to empty into dj's/fb..
Unscrew the the top and bobs your uncle...
I used to boil it but i even stopped doing that.
Must have used bottled water on at least 50 gallon previously with no probs

Oh yeah, Thanks for the welcome back Chippy... remember you from the last time :D
Helped me no end when i started up

Ive not caught up with the wow thread but i saw that you stopped using glycerin and citric acid? Is there a reason for this?:)

I don't measure the water or boil it I just pour it straight from the tap into the DJ's.

I stopped using acid and glycerine as I didn't have any one day and when we tasted the wine couldn't tell the difference.

Interesting... thought you had to boil it.. cool, tap water it is then :D

Ill try a dj without acid and G to see if i can tell any difference.
Bleeding bought two new tubs now

I used to boil the water to make dissolving the sugar easier i now throw the juice, tannin (tea) and sugar into the DJ get the temperature up to 30 then use my degassing wand (home made see thread on how to make one in the forum) to dissolve the sugar, it works a treat and saves lots for time and cleaning up.

Got 10 gallon on the go...:)

25l RGj & Apple with a chopped up melon & 2 large pears lobbed in. (5 rgj 5 apple juice and one raspberry, apple and grape)
1 gallon rgj & summer fruit
1 gallon rgj + apple & mango
3 gallon rgj & apple

Topped up with water and all the usual suspects.
Forgot to get glycerin so may just leave it out.

Think i'll make one of those degassers Chippy

Well I've been reading a lot and think I'm gonna try a WOW Blue Moon, it's a beautiful beer so why not try a wine. Biggest constraint sourcing WGJ. Gonna beat up 30g of fresh coriander, juice of 1 Orange, zest and boil for 30min in 1Lt H2o & 800g sugar, leave for 60min to steep, add 1Lt 100% OJ to DJ & Coriander wort once cooled (strained). Then add the usual suspects and top up with WGJ just below shoulder. After racking (once reached a decent FG), I'll add crushed coriander seeds in a muslin bag during the stabilization process.
