Disinterested in brewing, beer or life in general? If the first, well no biggie there are other things to do with your time and the kit will be there when you get your mojo back. If the second....well I've no suggestions, that's a real problem. If the third...hmmmm, might be beyond a brewing forum but I wish you well.

Find someone local and do a joint brew day? Even a non-brewer maybe - I’ve had fun showing my neighbour how it’s done (given he usually gets some of the fruit of the labours).

Getting him to stick around for the washing up after has proved a non starter so far though 🙄

I'm just coming out of that. Spoke to doc, got some meds and some advice. Recognising the issue and learning some ways to address it helped me greatly.
Look after yourself. Ditch as much of your to-do list as you can. Think about your sleep and check out good sleep hygiene. If you brew at all choose something quick and easy so you can get some quick wins. But minimise alcohol, it's not good in depression. Look up a guy called Andrew Huberman on Youtube for some explanations (and hacks).
It's hard to do anything, especially things that you otherwise enjoy, when you're in this state. But if you can get out and do stuff or meet people it can help.
I found it too easy to sit in front of the computer all day. Making an effort to switch it off helped, then I got bored and did stuff, doing stuff helped my frame of mind. But it can be hard to break the rhythm.
I still have a way to go but it is improving.

Thanks all. No I am not about to commit suicide!!! However I will drag out a couple of 30l buckets and do some 10 day wine. I will also do some more exercise (yeah right) I am also going to buy that wood I need for a couple of projects.

A quick win to get me going maybe a little wooden box as well

Even the ex couldn't wine (sic) for a whole ten days. Get a decent beer kit in there would be my advice. Otherwise, I'll take the lot off your hands for a fiver.

Don't forget @IanG and anyone else it applies to reading the thread, I know we might only be talkkng about malaise over beer brewing but its ok to not be ok. You dont have to be on your game 24/7, indeed, we cant be. Like a sprained muscle or a cold, sometimes our mind gets unwell. Its no different to any other illness. Dont let it fester, address it, talk about it and put it behind us.

All the best folks 👍

You might just need something to get excited/enthused about? I'm using local ingredients atm. Just made a blueberry wheat, which looks promising, using frozen berries from a local farm, and currently investigating how to use hazelnuts, as a bloke at work has an orchard.
Something new/interesting that needs some research/planning gets me involved and helps clear the mind of other worries. Works for me anyway...

How very brave of you - I admire your honesty

What has helped me is linking up with other local home brewers

In the depths of lock down we began virtual pub meetings once a week and have created some great friendships from it. This week alone we have had a trip to a local brewery and a OxtoberFest party at one of the members houses - it was fabulous

Helping organise the malt buying co-operative means I have details of several other home brewers in your area

Should we try and organise a virtual pub meeting - and talk a load of rubbish about beer?
