I know this may sound like a stupid question but here goes.
Can i find out what the abv of my beer is although it is in the barrell and being enjoyed. I did not take a reading while it was in the f.v i just left it nine days and then barrelled it

Yes, you need to measure your OG (original gravity) before you chuck in the yeast and then you FG (final gravity) when its finished fermenting.

However if its a kit then you should get a rough idea from what was written on the can.

It was a tin it was Youngs bitter i think it said it turned out at around 4.2% or 4.8%. but i put and extra t spoon of sugar in the barrell for luck.
I'm not a heavy drinker but the morning after i feel like I'v had double the amount i have.

Brewlab at Sunderland can do this for you . . . I think the cost is about 35 quid

Alternatively somewhere like Hamstead Homebrew have the kit and are able to do it . . . don't know what the cost is though

They work well for us for HMRC purposes. Although we did get one result back that was a physical impossibility. Not sure if Rob/Chris ever checked their equipment out after that one.

Yeah, I have moobs and two teenage kids...so the rest doesn't matter anymore. Drinking heavily in my youth is the reason i was 'popular' with the ladies, so many boilers and trolls that you wake up with makes you say time and time again 'I'm never gonna drink again!'. :lol:

Back on topic guys. Had three pints last night and it felt like 6 okay the next day thou.As i said I'm a light drinker now a days when i go out i usualy have 5 or 6 pints.
